I was thinking to myself earlier: what are my favourite minis from GW. I started debating with myself, and believe I came to a conclusion.

I was then kinda curious of what models other people are in favour of, based purely on sculpt, pose or effectiveness in games. So what I want to ask is: What's your too ten favourite minis? They can be from either the hobbit or Lotr, and can be personally judged by yourself on what qualities makes it into your top ten list. You can also add a little description if you want.

My list is:
10: Gloin

9: Hunter orcs on Fell Wargs.

8: Aragorn (Fellowship) love the pose and sculpt, with great details on his equipment. :aragorn:

7: Gandalf (Khazad-Dum) lovely dynamic pose. :gandalf:

6: Azog on White Warg.

5: Bolg he has some lovely detailing on him, and a joy to paint.

4: Mounted Elrond the best mounted pose in my opinion. :elrond:

3: Haldir unarmoured with sword.

2: Young Thorin Oakenshield

1: Boromir, Captain of the White Tower (with banner)

That's the list of my favourites :-D

Wow, a big question! A lot of models make the "very nice" list, but actually for me it's not too hard to narrow down the "nice" to the "truly great". In no particular order:

Fellowship Gandalf, the one in the current finecast box:
ImageTo me, really encapsulates the mystery of the "wandering wizard" presented in the Hobbit and the Fellowship of the Ring.

Khazad Dum Gandalf:
Image
For the reasons given by the OP: Dynamic and atmospheric pose. I can hear him shouting "you shall not pass!".

Gollum: Sorry for the double image, but a shameless plug of my own paint job here :D.
Image
Another really dynamic pose with huge character.

Lurtz: A classic. I don't prefer the rare archer version- this one is so characterful, but so simple.
Image

Thryden Wolfsbane (on foot):
Image
Just damned cool.

Shelob: Creepy as fuuuuuu
Image

Dead Marsh Spectre:
Image
Malign and sad all at the same time. Great sculpt.

Bolg:
Image
Oh, if only he wasn't fine cast!

Great Eagles: Yep, for a plastic kit these are superb. I wish Gwaihir was plastic too.
Image

Oldschool Balin: Have to get in some old school dwarf love. It could be Dain or Durin as well, but I went for Balin in the end.
Image
It's not that I don't like the new dwarves, but there is just something really comforting about dwarves that look…. well, like Dwarves :D.

Next week the list could be 50% different though I think!

I love that we have so many because there are many models I really dislike in the LOTR range, but so many I LOVE in the SBG range.

So many wonderful models left off this list but this'll do...

Aragorn at Helm's Deep - It just has such an effortlessly cool pose and reflects one of my favourite scenes.
Sauron - Every time this model is on the board it just seems to be the dominating figure when you look down. Probably because of it's sheer size, but the design helps too.
Mounted Theoden (the current finecast version) - Although he should have his helmet on, it's just another model which perfectly captures the beginning of the Charge at Pelennor (even though it's labelled as Helm's Deep).
Gimli on Dead Uruk-Hai - Just an amusing little model to look at, I was very glad to pick one up during the summer it was released.
Gandalf the Grey on cart - Yet another model that I think really reflects another of my favourite scenes. (You guys might be able to pick up what influences my ideal of a good model when it comes to the Lord of the Rings range).
Knights of Rivendell - Just such wonderful detail and sculpts. If I wasn't a poor student I'd probably have a box or two!
Hunter Orcs on Fell Wargs - Exactly the same principle as above.
Gandalf the Grey Wizard's Duel - Such a dynamic pose, the Saruman one isn't bad either.
The Ringwraiths - They just look cool! (Because there's so many I'm going to say they take up two slots)
