Wow, a big question! A lot of models make the "very nice" list, but actually for me it's not too hard to narrow down the "nice" to the "truly great". In no particular order:
Fellowship Gandalf, the one in the current finecast box:
To me, really encapsulates the mystery of the "wandering wizard" presented in the Hobbit and the Fellowship of the Ring.
Khazad Dum Gandalf:
For the reasons given by the OP: Dynamic and atmospheric pose. I can hear him shouting "you shall not pass!".
Gollum: Sorry for the double image, but a shameless plug of my own paint job here
.
Another really dynamic pose with huge character.
Lurtz: A classic. I don't prefer the rare archer version- this one is so characterful, but so simple.
Thryden Wolfsbane (on foot):
Just damned cool.
Shelob: Creepy as fuuuuuu
Dead Marsh Spectre:
Malign and sad all at the same time. Great sculpt.
Bolg:
Oh, if only he wasn't fine cast!
Great Eagles: Yep, for a plastic kit these are superb. I wish Gwaihir was plastic too.
Oldschool Balin: Have to get in some old school dwarf love. It could be Dain or Durin as well, but I went for Balin in the end.
It's not that I don't like the new dwarves, but there is just something really comforting about dwarves that look…. well, like Dwarves
.
Next week the list could be 50% different though I think!
