Unfinished tale hehe yeah, no need to rush art! Nice to see the dwarf kings getting some paint slapped on too! Statue facing Mirrormere is a lovely touch, path trailing between? You're on to a winner anyways.

Taking a break from all things dwarvish, looked at my bits and sprues I wouldn't be using and decided to build a rogue Minas Tirith battle company.

Image

Went with a red tree vs normal white, no helmets and various bits on the back.

Heads are from various sources; Warlord Games Gauls, old Wargame Factory bits, maybe even a Frostgrave figure. Bedrolls, back packs, bags, cloak from Victoria Miniatures.

Might redo some red trees white to use them as Osgiliath Veterans or Captains or just might do some more later.

Those non-GW heads really add something to that classic sculpt. I like the red trees on the shields too. This lot will be great in BC and I wouldn't mind seeing more of these if you get around to it later on 8)

Thanks, I was actually working on a captain when I read this.

Those are some really nice headswaps. Scale seems to be perfectly on point. Had I not known that there are no helmet-less heavy armour gondorian soldiers, I would not have spotted that htose are conversions.

I agree with Alhvar, those head swaps came out really well. It is also nice to learn that the Victoria Mini. cloaks and paraphernalia work with the smaller LotR plastics. I'll have to keep that in mind when if I ever go looking for bits.

Very nicely done - especially the heads. Must keep this in mind for if/when I update my Fiefdom's BC.

Thanks everyone! Kalatha - if you are doing fiefdoms, you should look on Instagram at the factions_of_middle_earth account, several different designs/paint jobs there.

Wizkids spiders put on pumpkin and squash stems.

Great job all around on the spiders :-D The bases really make them look dynamic (and a bit scary too!). It is a huge improvement compared to how GW just slaps them on top of some dirt on the base so they all end up looking the same, I'd say.

Inspired from an image I saw on Reddit (sorry, forgot the redditor for credit)

Was never happy with the Fellowship figures from the Mines of Moria set, didn't like how they were facing.

Image

Had some extra ones from an Ebay purchase so got out the jeweler saw and x-acto and did some conversions.

Camera shows I need to do some smoothing still and it looks like I need to move Legolas's head over more.

Just some shots with some rocks I found.

I completely agree that the poses on those minis leaves something to be desired, especially with Boromir. I really like the conversions and look forward to seeing them painted up!

Will do Mapper - thanks for the advice (have only just come across your post!).

It's been a long road (and will continue to be so for a while yet!) but I have spent the past few months working on an Easterlings BC and a Denzizens of Mirkwood BC.

There are quite a few conversions for the Easterling Warriors, the DKs - so I think that I might have to start a new thread so that I can show and share them with those who are still active on this forum. It also includes a non-3D print Drake - a tad big, but I kinda like it!

Kalatha (Paul)

MY FLGS restocked their wizkids shelf so I bought some more spiders. Not having any more stems, went a different route on basing these.

Just on some hirst arts blocks, painted to blend in.

Image

On a stone I found (yes, I tend to look down at the ground on walks for stuff I can use :D )

Image

Don't drink from this well

Image

And a wolf spider that wizkids sells

Image

My spiders, all wizkids (so far)

Image

I've also started an Instagram account for some LOTR scenes. @lotrboomer

- Paul/Kalatha - please do post some pictures of what you are working on, I need some new inspiration.

Will do in a couple of weeks Mapper - I just need the school holidays to get here so that I can have a break from teaching - even if we are offsite and online here in Victoria atm!

Except for its base the Drake/Dragon is done and its colour scheme will, I think, suit the Dragon Knights for my Easterling BC. So watch this space.

PS I really love what you've done with the spiders - more ideas for mine! I've assembled two of the Wargames Atlantic Fantasy Spiders - inadvertently reversed a pair of legs on the first one (Doh!) but have been mulling over bases before proceeding further. So thank you!

I love how dynamic these are! Its not hard to imagine these spiders creeping up on someone, like that soldier of Gondor. We're glad to have you on Instagram as well! :)
