Please help with this question, I couldn’t see an answer to it in the rules ...

I had a situation where Shagrat beat an Elf Captain in a duel and rolled a 6,5,4 to wound, he needed 5’s so had caused 2 wounds my question is can he wait until seeing if the Elf passes his fate before mighting the 4 to a 5 to preserve might or must he decide before the fate roll potentially wasting might?

Hope that makes sense

Thanks in advance for a response

Hi Gundalad - this question actually came up recently on the site and I will share the answer that I posted at that time....

"...Yes, you must use might to alter your roll and determine the total number of wounds before your opponent rolls his fate roll....I'll try to find the exact rulebook citation tonight when I get home, but it's something akin to this....

Player A wins a duel
Player A then rolls to wound - Might may be used to alter the "to wound" dice roll, if desired.

then.....once the total number of wounds caused is determined.....

Player B takes that amount of wounds, or, if he has Fate remaining, he can then make his fate rolls to try to avoid those wounds...''

Hope this is clear and answers your question
