Very new to the hobby. Have read the rules a good few times but still haven't played any games yet. Hasn't stopped me from going overboard on cavalry. Anyway here's a list I threw together. Would love to hear any feedback people have on it! I'm really torn about wanting the Royal banner in my force somewhere but maybe only at higher points.

Théoden: armoured horse, heavy armour, shield.
6 Royal Guard with throwing spears and horses
8 riders of rohan
4 riders of rohan with throwing spears

Éomer: all the bells and whistles
3 Royal Guard with throwing spears and horses
8 riders of rohan
3 riders of rohan with throwing spears

Which I believe comes to exactly 700 points.

Heroes and riders I already have it's just the royal guard I have to acquire.

You are lacking some might if you want to play with full cavalry (one can manage bringing some magic but you are not). I would add another 3Might points hero, remove spears from riders and a couple of both.

Hmm would be a good idea to include Gamling then perhaps... I'll have a fiddle around. As far as I could tell my only real option would be gandalf which would suck up a lot of my points . Its an interesting balancing act. Thanks for the input

Eyown or the new Dernhelm might be worth considering too for cheaper might points.

ah yes good shout also. Though I've really wanted to combo Dernhelm with the royal banner nearby so merry is constantly regenerating might points, but I think I'd miss out on the beast that is Éomer.. tricksy tricksy. I have Éowyn and definitely want Dernhelm when that arrives so good options both

You can get a cheap eomer with theodred. But yeah Gamling+Dernhelm is quite juicy.

I don't have a lot (any) experience but did feel that the "must charge if he can" rule Theodred has might cause me issues. Thanks again for the input

Well yeah it can be worrisome, but that's the price for a cheap 3A3M hero who reroll for wounds !
