Terrain size is an issue for me cause I have a relatively small table (2,7x3.7) and I am torn between buying a 4x4 mat and playing on the floor or continue playing on my table, with low points.
That being said, what is your opinion on terrain size per points games?
For example mine around 3x3 being good for 200-350 points or 4x4 for 500-750 etc.
Also what is your opinion on playing on the floor? Trouble with minies sticking to the ground without a proper mat? Back pain being an issue?
Any good mats to recommend? I am thinking of Deep Cuts Studios, are they good and if yes what type of their mats?
Thanks in advance, peace.

I used to a table with felt laid over. However, I always found it was unsatisfactory in size. Putting everything on the floor made the battlefield a lot larger. Back pain wasn't an issue for me. I am also looking at Deepcut studios' mats, they look amazing.

I'll hop on board with those mats too. I was gonna purchase some soon.

As for table....4x4 fits a lot. I mean....its all opinion.

I wouldn't suggest playing 700 points on a 3x3 too much but it can be done. Depends on your army.
I found my 700 pt Hobbit elf list way too large for a 4x4 but other armies can fit. All cav doesn't really flourish till you're on a larger board.

I have not experienced playing on the ground much but when I have I hated it. Uncomfortable with the bending and stuff.

If you can get a cheap 4x4 table and one of those mats you should be golden.

Also I would add that the terrain you put on it makes a pretty big difference too. In general, a larger area means more tactical options and play, but also makes for longer games. But really the game-changer is what is actually on the board. Field battles, city corridor struggles, mountain skirmishes, fortress fighting, and all sorts of vastly different battles can be played on different sizes.

I'd say you can pretty much play whatever size armies you want on most varying boards within reason. Large armies can fight it out in small areas, just expect lots of clashing formations and forced conflict. On the flip side, a larger board with smaller armies means that they have plenty of room to maneuver and execute strategies, but action will be sparser and far more pivotal.

Τhanks for all your great answers! I'll probably test if I can play 350 on my 2,3x3,7 first and then decide if I'll move on.
