Your painting skills really bring out the details in the figures, well done. On the Osgiliath corner piece, you might want to think about filling in the side/bottom, I felt it made the piece more complete.

How did you get the white stone effect on this piece?

Sorry YOrcShire, didn't mean to hijack your thread.

Oropher - did this awhile ago, using old GW paints. Base-coated with Dneneb Stone, light dry brush with a grey (sorry, don't remember which one) and then a heavier dry brushing with Skull White. The filling in I did with a press mold of the piece on the other side of the stairs and used plaster of paris.

Thanks for the tip Mapper.

After spending a few weeks assembling loads of models it was nice to get back to painting. A few more Minas Tirith warriors to get into the swing:

Followed by my entry into this months painting competition. Any C&Cs welcome, tried to push myself on this one but any tips for improvements would be appreciated:

Nice work. Easy to get him wrong but good detail here

Agreed. Great job on Théoden. The face is particularly well done.

My only critique on the WoMT guys is that the ballast/rubble on the base seems a little large. It throws off the scale of the minis.

Thanks Gandalf and Erunion. Agree with the ballast, just keeping it for consistency for now. I don't like it and might get around to rebasing at some point in the distant future!!!

Theoden is amazing, almost like looking at a portrait of Bernard Hill! Brilliant skin tones.

Maybe they are running around the ruins of Osgiliath? They look fine to me.

Thanks for the comments.

Seems a while since my last update. Real life has taken over during March but have managed to find some hobby time recently. Just painted some of my backlog at random (Apologies for the awful picture quality, taken in haste!):

Gollum

Two Uruk Scouts

Faramir

Bard

Madril

Cirion

Denethor

I wasn't keen on painting Denethor but he's turned out to be my favourite of the latest bunch. I was worried about the black robe so any feedback on the robe in particular would be much appreciated.

Thanks all

Nice work.
Black is a difficult colour to lighten but you've done a nice job. Subtle change as the coat material, being a heavy wool, wouldn't reflect much light

Denethor is very nice, it's a subtle sculpt yet very characterful and you've done it justice.

Nice work! I also like Denethor a lot, especially his face. My one criticism is that the bases seem a little boring, though I actually think it works for Denethor and Gollum. That's just my opinion though :)

Thanks all for the feedback. Bases are something I've not really spent a lot of time developing. They tend to be a bit of an afterthought for me so I certainly need to improve this area.

I've been working on Grima this week so will hopefully return shortly with an update.

Completed Grima....... I tried to differentiate between the blacks of the inner and outer robes, not sure if it's come through on the photo's though.

Another nice piece from you, were the inner robes highlighted with browns?

Thanks CG....The inner robes were a dark green camo colour, mainly death world forest from the citadel range from memory.

It works well to break up all the black.

Yeah, very nice - The subtle difference in colour really helps.

Thanks for the fantastic comments everyone :)

I've been working on Saruman foot and mounted recently. I am not very happy with how they have turned out but they look OK from a distance on the tabletop.
