I'm just curious as to peoples thoughts.

Personally I love Thranduil and use him as much as possible. I don't find natures wrath as useful as it is a test factor with my opponent moving a certain way because of him.

As for Aura of Dismay, I just love it. It helps exactly where wood Elves can use it and is immeasurable.

I'll have to think about runners up later but hunter orcs many blades I love and goblin towns chittering horde is vastly underrated.

Totally second Thranduil. Natures wrath and aura of dismay are terrific, super themey feeling for mirkwood elves and powerful enough to be rewarding. Big daddy Thranduil is kind of fun too, though he feels a little like easy mode and is near impossible to fit into non all hero armies.

I've always wanted to use them they seem so cool and useful but so many people have told me they suck. I haven't listened though and still have both drums.

And Polywags yeah man....I don't have any new Elves either. I'd probably proxy them in a fun game.

I've been an avid Mordor player for something like 12 years now, yet only a few months ago tried Spectres for the first time. Good lord those things are devastating. With enough persistence, you can even mess with an Elf army, and let's say nothing of what you can do to an army of men or any evil army. From making movement horribly inconvenient for your opponent (moving a model to bottleneck your opponent's army in a tight spot), getting a vulnerable/valuable model in combat quickly, keeping an important model away, it's good times with these guys.

There's also Tom Bombadil, I've yet to use him effectively, but the guy has so much potential.

The Gundabad drum is amazing. The regular one just can't compete with running and drumming.

My favorite special rule si Bofur's Steadfast. Can ignore magic and any other effects on a 2+, which is awesome. Too bad Bofur's stats are worse than those of a dwarf captain with shield and cannot lead troops, so there's actually no point in choosing him for competitive games.

And also, Bilbo's "has not awoken yet". You basically have an invisible unit that can cripple fight values. And the AUJ Bilbo can stun too.
