try painting the eyes first.
Two white verticals each side of where you want the pupil.
Then make your horozontals with a dark brown flesh colour.
That lets you get that thinness to the eye spot on.
Then paint the rest of the face the way you do after that.

This way if you don't like it you can repaint over in primer and do it again later without ruining the rest of the face.
