This is looking good Willow. 8) How long did it take you? Always wanted to get around to doing an Amon Hen model. Are the stones cast from your own mould?

I didn't realize you were friends with Andy. He's an awesome guy. He surfaced over at the TLA forum not too long ago, and I was hoping to lure him back into the LotR fold.

He is a nice guy. I wish he lived near by. His son is interested so may be he will be more active. He was at TreeFort to demo SBG for The Miniature Building Authority. We have a lot of mutual gaming buddies.

The rocks were cast from Woodland Scenic rubber molds. I was not very decisive with the plan. Drying time was the largest factor. The model and trees were finished years ago. I started and stopped and changed plans several times so it is hard to say how much time it took or takes to finish.

Thanks every one for the well wishes and complements. I am doing much better.

I tried the long Static grass. I need to work out a better applicator. The light in the game room was not very good. I re-based these E bay Orcs the paint was good enough.

Image

I am going to add a few weeds and flowers but I want the long grass thicker.

I think the grass looks fine, there is a randomness to it which looks effective. A few weeds will help and a very light scattering of some bright flock to resemble a few flowers.
Add a few leaves and some ivy against the seeing seat and I think your done.

I have some poison Ivy. I have some high yellow grass clumps too. I do not have the leaves.
I want to add some static grass between the stones.

I am going to try to make some home made grass tuffs too. I do not have any wax paper.

Look at this photo

I'm thinking of a fine scatter for flowers like you see on the grass slope on the left. I used red and purple but any will do.

It was a nice warm day so I primed the Zuzzy Mat black. I dry brushed it gray then sponged/stamped it brown and earth color. I will dry brush it with the next two colors when I get back home tomorrow.

Image

a few accessories for use with the matt

I will cut some brass tube to fit the woodland scenic armatures and install them into the terrain sections. I will finish the trees soon. I hope it will be warm again tomorrow so I can finish some molds too.

Is the Zuzzy mat easy to work with? I have one that I haven't had the courage to paint yet. He sent me a small section that I was going to paint up first to use as a photography backdrop, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

I painted it black with a spray paint. I dry brushed it gray with a 4 inch house brush. I stamped/sponge painted it. I will dry brush it some more. The paint sticks well. Looks like it will turn out nice.

I have not posted here in a while. I have been working on some non LOTR projects. I have decided to add some more Dol Guldur/Hill of Sorcery elements to my role play sets.

This thread is so long I am not sure I should not start fresh.

Image

I have some elements I have already built. But I want to update to more like the Movie. I have been building twisted trees.

Image

Some old pink foam terrain with some of the new trees.

Image

I wanted to add the pointed stairs. This is designed to work with My 4" by 4" tiles.

Image

The stair block works with the pointed stairs so figures will stand.

Image

Image

The stairs can be created using Floor Tiles of various sizes from Mold #201 I used parts from the Wizards house for the arch but the floor parts will work. I will add the arch when the glue drys.

Excellent, the triangular stairs fit the theme really well. Love the tree branches, very atmospheric.

Thanks

The nice thing about the blocks is I can change it if I am not satisfied.I think I need a smaller arch for the 4" by 4". Maybe I should turn the statues to face. I probably should also try a larger base. Let me know what you think.

Image

This does not match any thing in the book or movie but will work for the role play dungeon.

Image

Dropping an inch plus a smaller arch will make a better 4" by 4" tile. I need to Watch the movie again.
