Welcome everyone to The online Battle Company Campaign!
I asked around for any interest in this and there were some so we are goign to start.
This first campaign will be kept very simple with players facing each other, playing and moving on to the next battle, might trow in a couple of
special scenarios.
This is my first attempt at something like this so I beg of you to be patient with me.
The rules we are going to use are Euronions
kb.php?a=259For simplicity we will not use any house rules this time.
What YOU need to do?
The tech bit:
-It is highly recomended that you create a new e-mail adress since you will get lots of e-mails back and forth between players.
-Register your e-mail on this website (it is free) which is used for dicerolling:
http://dicelog.com/dice-You also need to download the Battle Chronicler
http://battlechronicler.com/download/downloadv08.htmland its components for terrain
http://battlechronicler.com/components/ which is where we will play our battles.
To make it easier, whan you create your company in the program, click the "create template" and then as you create your units use the button "save unit to template". That way, when you play your next game al you have to do is load that template and its units. If you get reinforcments then just save them to this template as well.
The way it works is that one player creates a map and enters his company as one of the armies. he then e-mails the map to his opponent who enters his company as the other army. The player who has priority then moves his models on the map, saves it and e-mails it to his opponent who then moves his models, saves it and e-mails it back so his opponent can see what happend for shooting, priority, tests and combat you use the dicelog.
A few tips and tricks for Battle Chronicler:
The program is designed for battle reports so it is not otimised for playing games.
Remeber to create a template when you create your company and save your models by lciking "save to templare" so you dont have to do it again. When moving models simply click and drag, below the map area there is information on how far the model moves, if you select a unit you can also see how far away the mouse pointer is from that unit.
The turn tracker can be good though I have some problems with it myself, omdels jumping back and into the box. Make sure both of your armies are deployed during the deployment phase. Then click to turn 1 and your models should stay on the board.
Remeber the dicelog also, create one and invite your opponet and you can see each others rolls
The fun bit:
-Choose a battle company and post it in the Battle Companies Campaign thread in this forum with names, equipment, stats and heroic points etc.
Perhaps some cool backstory?
I will try and post mine as fast as possible to give an example on how it can look.
This thread can be used for discussions that arise in the campaign. Like this simple rules we can use to speed things up and so everyone treats terrain equal:
-The player with priority rolls all dice in combat, including his opponents duel and wound roll, he also is responsible for moving all models back 1".
- If you wish to use might for wining or wounding this must be declared before rolling in combat, in your mail with movments you say that "My hero
Grobug will use might to win(and to wound) in his fight".
- Hills and trees block LOS, you cant see under a tree for example.
- With buildings we will for simplicity treat them all the same under these rules since you cant see where the door or windows are.
You can enter a building anywhere but it will take a jump test ( jumping trough window).
You have LOS trough one wall but not two, so is someone is inside a building you can see him but if he is behind the building you can not. If you wish to shoot a model inside a building you have to make a 4+ in the way test.
You can attack someone inside a building but he will count as defending a barrier.
It is of course fun to play with many diffrent but there is no reason why there cant be several of any warband if two players wishes to use the same.
With regards to weapons and special strikes, all models are equipped with the weapon the model is carrying. In the case of Mordor orcs and Rohan
warriors etc, that carry diffrent hand weapons, you must have an equal numbers of the weapons they come with. So if you use a Rohan warband then half your models will have axes and half will have swords. Hope you understand what I mean.
The campaign will use the scenarios listed in the PDF with perhaps some additional scenarios thrown in.
The scenarios will be played in the order which they are written.
Opponents will be decided randomly among the ones you have not played yet. Once you have played all opponents once we will make the full circle again and randomly draw who you face.
The hope is that all players get at least 10 battles, after this we might take stock and devise an end to the campaign, perhaps the player with
the highst rating?
To start with, each battle will have a deadline of 1 week. We will see however if this is suffiecnt time or not, if it is not then we will extend it.
First battle will be next wednesday 3september. So post your battle company before this day. It is perfectly ok to join in later if you wish
but you might be behind then.
So sign up in the appropriate thread.
