I like what I see - again, a pity it is US only.

Hmmm, distracted by painting little figures at present but he certainly is on my to do list. I'll try to do some more between now and Christmas and get a base sorted for him.

I've fixed a broken tooth and sculpted scales on the inside join of the wing a few months ago. There's a bit of work to do on his front left claw, as I'm not happy with it yet, then I'll start painting. I'm a bit worried about that as I'm not as good at painting as I am at sculpting - perhaps that's why I've been putting it off! Oh, well, I think I'd better just make a start and see what happens.

Thanks for the offer ;) but I can't send him to Forodwaith.
I'll see what I can do myself.

Forodwaith is the North lands, Haradwaith is the South lands, Enedwaith is the East lands and it's anybody's guess what the West lands are... possibly Rhunwaith. ;)

I live in Haradwaith and you live in Forodwaith. If Smaug were to fly that distance, I wouldn't be surprised if his wings fell off! I've got to paint him anyway. Otherwise it would be like baking a delicious chocolate cake and never getting to taste it. Not that I eat chocolate at present, mind you, but you know what I mean.

I think I'd better leave this thread in peace now. It appears there are some dragons out there. Beware! And boy! are they expensive.

Well I haven't seen this posted here on OR yet, but check out this guy from Greene Models:

http://www.geenemodels.com/gk/

At $389 USD, probably outside of most people's budget, but it certainly looks the part!

That's a good looking dragon. The back feet look a bit weird but the forelegs/wings are an interesting combination. Spines and spikes work well - I like the ones coming down the neck from where it joins the head.

The conversion makes this model approximately £239! so I guess you're right about it being beyond regular hobbyists with pocket money. It might be a bit hard to justify to one's other half!

Nevertheless, a cracking model. Is it yours? And will you be painting it? I like to see how it turns out.

Assuming the cutting mat is about 9 inches, I think a GW version at that scale would do the trick.

It looks great.

I think that kit is definitely an homage to Jackson's Smaug. It's very nice, but extremely expensive.

while lurking ze forums, I've become tempted to make a return to sbg, and what better way than to sculpt a smaug:P

i'll be starting a wip in no time, but first i have to actually have something to show haha !

I am actually quite amazed he has a resin model that size for that amount. When I looked into doing it, I figured the retail to be nearer £400. And as not many can afford that kind of price, the project becomes kind of pointless. Production costs and material costs are gargantuan for something that big. So £240 is a bargain in my opinion, considering what you are getting.
