Ah, well. The Rangers that soon will be seen here, will be a small step backwards but it will change! I now know how to paint and it is just about practice, and more practice.
Eventually..

Today sees the name changing of this thread and a dark and sinister power sent from Angmar to the Barrow-Downs.

Yes, Barrow Wights! (Four of them, even.)

These Barrow Wights are going to be a part of my Misty Mountains + Angmar Armies in the near future.

And I must say I like the miniatures very much, although I have to say that I'm going to convert two of the four Wights. I want a little bit of variation.

I've got some ideas for those conversions, mostly some greenstuf things. It will be minor, but I hope it works out.

Then, the pictures:

First of the four Barrow Wights together, sort of:

Then Barrow Wight 1:

Barrow Wight 2:

And the last two Wights:

Well, that's it for today, good morning!

Comments and questions are welcome.

Lovely sculpts these are and how always refreshing it is to see metal.
I'm liking your subtle highlighting on the ragged cloth.

Still, the crown has to be finished, the face has to be made lighter, the hair has to be a little bit lighter , to. And the boots and his have to be painted as well.

Greetings,

Well, it has been a while for me, really a while.

Yesterday I finished this by-the-ring-tainted guy, Gollum, or Smeagol as his name once was. Precious.

interesting going dark on Gollum. It gives him a deeper level of malevolence and grotesque feel.

I think Thraduil is unbalanced, model wise, he just looks like he is leaning too much toward the direction that he is not stable, feet wise. Not sure wat you could do about it, I don't own that version so not sure what the deal is with that.

I would like to see some contrast between the face/skin of the barrow whites and the dark cloth and hair, just to show off the details as they are great models.

Other than that I think you are coming along well and have some nice models painted up and ready for war.

So, it has been a while since I updated this blog, really it has. So think it is time for a change, or rather, a new post. And it is about Orcs, all about Orcs. I'm going to paint them, assamble them, let them Avange things (.....just kidding). No.. This is the Army List I have in mind, sort of (it's a start):

Warband 1: Bolg's Bodyguard.
- 13/13, 3 Might, 295pts-

-(General) Bolg, son of Azog.

-12 Gundabad Orcs, 6 with shields and 6 with spears.

Warband 2: Fimbul's Hunters.
-13/13, 3 Might, 212pts-

-Fimbul the Hunter on a Fell Warg.

-6 Hunter Orcs on Fell Wargs, 2 with bows.
-6 Fell Wargs.

Warband 3: Yazneg's Raiders.
- 13/13, 3 Might, 163pts-

-Yazneg with Lance on a Fell Warg.

-12 Hunter Orcs, 2 with orcs bows.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are some WIP pictures of the Hunter Orcs and some finished Hunter Orcs on Fell Wargs(Deze heb ik een jaar geleden geschilderd of zo):

So, a new month means a new painting log title:
Turwaitheon's 10 Minatures in 3 Days Painting Challenge!

This title basically means that I challenge myself to paint/finish miniatures which still have to be painted or are painted a bit already, all (with)in 3 or 4 days.

The first 10 of these are 10 Warriors of Dale which are almost done painting apart from the weapons, face and hair and, boots and the bases.

These are some WIP pictures, a little bit edited.

But that is not all, I also finished two Barrow Wights!

Really nice! The freehand pattern works well with the deep red colouring. Great painting.

The orcs look great, lots of color schemes and war paint. The lake town bullies are looking good too, once they change alignment and start helping Bard they will fit nicely into a force lead by him. I agree with Sausage Fin...er um D.M.S. that the red color with the gold freehand is working very well on them.

Excellent work on the cloaks, I really like the 'feel' they have.

The cloaks on the Warriors of Dale look amazing, good job on those. I really like Thranduil and the Rangers too, great work overall.

The colour scheme is very fitting with the board they are on, makes them almost camouflaged.
