Thank'ee mertaal. Having seen some of your works, that's nice praise :)

Just finished Galadriel for this month's comp. More pics, and stuff on the blog.

Great work. The hair and cloth look great, the skin is very pallid and scary so I assume this is representing the mirror scene as the pose suggests. I think the necklace could use something to pop it away from the armor color but that is just a thought as it does look fine as is.

Thanks Sith. I've done a bit more work on the metallics now. I'm not sure if it's a necklace or some kind of thin chain that attached the gown to the armour, but I've added another highlight to it.

These pics give better colours on the model.

Yikes, a month already sine I last updated! I'm not dead yet!

I've begun work on some Hedgehog Wraiths, soon to be burning Wraiths at Weathertop. These guys are going to be a good challenge to sculpt on, and I'm going to have to re-assess the tools I use to do it (something better than a compass point).

Image

I've also started work rebuilding the arm of an Amon Hen Aragorn. Thanks go to valpas for showing me a pic of the model from an oblique view so I could get an idea of the positioning in space.

Image

A couple of weeks ago I began work on the Fate of the Witch-king. I completely forgot to post it here, but it did find its way to my blog. In the time since then, I've done nothing on it except obtain the Witch-king's sword hand and glue it on. Speaking of my blog, there is more detail on the projects in this post over there. Link is in my signature.

Enjoy!

If your sculpting is only half as good as your painting they're gonna be great ;). You got a lot of interesting projects going on, I can already see the Weathertop scenario being played on a nice board with some burning ringwraiths fleeing the scene... awesome.

Thank you for the kind words. I hope one day to have the skill and confidence to sculpt a model from scratch.

I hope see it being played when I can find an opponent - the only other local gamer left town at the start of the year. I'm all alone

I've already found a solution to my tool problem. I'm building a tool as I type, and am trying to decide whether to crack out the putty tonight, or leave it until tomorrow... probably tomorrow, as I'm not sure midnight is the best time to start anything. :-D

Phase one of several in the sculpting has been completed. The first wraith is still far from done, and at present is rather derpy.

Image

Aragorn also needs at least one more session to thicken up his arm a bit and needs a bit more work done on his hand and dagger handle and more detail overall.

Image

It's a start :) There's some more angles on my blog and a little more detail of my thoughts on the wraith. I wasn't super keen on sharing them half finished, but thought I should anyway.

Looks good mate. I feel your pain with being all alone. Have one other serious collector up my end of the country but we've not played for about 5 years lol. He has too much going on in his life.

I've started working on the others. This one's my favourite so far:

Image

What I'm doing is making cones over the wire, and allowing them to set before making the fire texture. Yesterday's wraith had much larger fires that are quite far apart, and I think that's what has contributed most to the awkwardness that I didn't like. The rest should be smoother sailing!

All done, ready to paint. I'll either finish the Fate of the Witch-king first, or paint these guys first. No matter what, they're not far from the brush.

Image

And Aragorn, whom I'm very proud of (undercoated, but he's not too far from a full colour finish either I hope).

Image

I'm definitely not going to sculpt anything for a while, and I may do some non-LoTR stuff for a little while too (1/6000th scale Atlantis from Stargate has been languishing for over a year and wants some loving).

Enjoy!

These look the business and will wait patiently to see them sat on their diorama. It should look great.
Are you planning some OSL with the flames so you have the glow in varying degrees all over the piece.

Now that you're going to be working on Smaug maybe you could get these done too all lit up!
