Does anyone think that a new pose for Gandalf the Grey mounted will be released? I would like to think its a reasonable expectation since he has had a bit of screen time on a horse and the old pose is OOP and is arguably overpriced on ebay.
On a side note.... Mounted Thorin's company..... Wouldn't that be something else hahaha, a man can dream still.

Ugh, not in "Fine"cast! I do indeed want Gandalf on horseback, but I can be patient. My issue with the older metal ft&mtd blister was that it included the very first Gandalf, who I already had at least 4 copies of. Now I'm kicking myself for not getting it.

Sad thing that it probably will be finecast but hopefully if they release another with more Gandalf's on the market the metal ones on Ebay may go down a little bit, well one can hope anyway.

If only the Hobbit was done just like lotr sbg. We'd already have the alternate Thorin's Company, mounted Thorin's Company and cool little set boxes for example a Radagast vs Witch King in statue box or a battle of azanulbizar box with Azog holding Thrors head and that would've been the box to put young Thorin/Balin/Dwalin in.

It's sad to think about the missed opportunities for cool models because Games Workshop isn't doing as well as it used to :(

Hopefully we do get a mounted Thorin's Company before the end of it all, including Gandalf. I missed out on that mini the first time around it won't happen again!

If they release a finecast set, it'll be around the £25 mark. Which barring the last one on eBay, is what they tend to go for on eBay.

They would probably make it plastic, like legolas and tauriel. They only made laketowners finecast cause they assumed no-one would buy them anyway.
Mounted Thorin's company is a pipe dream, though definitely a longbottom leaf standard pipe-dream...

I do believe and wish it will be a plastic release, although they are yet to make a plastic mounted hero.... So Gandalf to be the first then! :-D Or not...

I really don't want mounted version of the party. They were on the ponies for one scene pretty much, then the ponies seemed to be either taken or ran off (wargs would have caught them on the ponies anyway so they are fortunate they didn't rely on them). Then the horses they take from Beorn, again one scene.
So, IMO, I really hope they don't make a big deal about mounted versions of them just for the game sake to have extra killing power on the heroes, goblin town goblins have enough trouble killing them without charge dice.

They may look pretty as a display piece like the barrels (also models I won't be getting) but if I am supposed to have sympathy for GW when they can't make all the releases they want too, then they should not be making releases that won't sell well. They would sell to the top percentile only, those who can afford them and those that can actually use them in a display. Main stream players won't get them either based on cost or use.

All that said, if they do release them and want to actually sell them, they should do foot and mounted packs of with the fine cast version of both (the elusive finecast company with a mounted version). That I would buy as they would be two models in a clam and maybe worth it. The finecast for the Hobbit has been great so far.

As for Gandalf, I feel the same about him. I didn't get the metal version because I had the foot version many times. If I ever needed a mounted version I can switch to use G-White with Shadowfax. The mounted grey looked cool, but I would not buy him alone. Not even to fill a collection. I definitely would consider buying a version from DOS though because of those horses they used in that are beautiful coloration and that would fill my G-Grey mounted needs if ever one came.

I don't think they would make it plastic. As the Gandalf's that Have been released with the exception of the one in the escape of goblin town were all in finecast.

Although I wouldn't mind a plastic mounted version, that would be interesting even though it would probably be the same price.

Mines of Moria, don't forget that guy. Besides, GW is phasing out Finecast.

And yet they continue to make hobbit range pieces in it. I'm not convinced that they won't finish the range in fine-cast

You've got a point, they continue it's use for the hobbit because there may only make another couple of years of more miniatures before they stop unfortunately making them. They simply may not see a reason to because to switch over to plastics because the hobbit is a short term game (in their eyes) so they needn't do the long term thing which is make everything in plastic.

Don't panic over laketown. They obviously didn't think they would be very popular. They made the wood elves in plastic remember?

I'm not panicked I've just not seen evidence that they're going to finish the Hobbit without fine-cast. Its a "temporary" game in GW's eyes so I think we will see fine-cast mixed in through to the end

We've gotten two plastic box sets and two plastic heroes last year; this after they got scalded with the Men of Dale not selling. How is this treating it as temporary?

It's temporary as GW isn't planning on keeping the game long after the movies. Once the license runs out I doubt they'll renew it. That's what I mean by temporary. Only 40k and fantasy are going to continue past 5-6 years from now with GW

Yes but this is the only plastic we have seen for SBG in over 6 months! :(

Just this month alone so far WH have had 2 new plastic box sets and 4 plastic characters.

I heard a rumour that SBG sales had more than tripled since the release of DOS... So perhaps there is hope that there will be a massive final push this December into next spring as a result.
