Thanks, Time will come, you can budget your money, talent comes with practice. I wish I had a nickle for all of the "if only" in my life.

I often wonder if the imagined masons of the author spent as much time getting the details right as the fans they inspired. You see these awesome works and hints in books of great cities of old, and the timeline to build such a great cities and sculptures is staggering, and then they allow it to fall into ruin for an age so that an author can have a history to base his present story on... mind blowing.

We are lucky that Sir Christoper Lee, Allen Lee, and John Howe are such fans. I am very happy that Peter Jackson had the wisdom to bring them together.

I found watching the extras in all the movie DVD/Blurays very inspiring - that enormous model of Minas Tirith is a terrain-makers dream come true. Sometimes I replay sections of the movies and freeze frame just to get a closer look at details. If you are not well enough to be working at it, a spot of research can still be a way of making progress and recuperating at the same time (see - men can multitask) :)

Some e-bay Hobbits exploring the new home.

I worked on the arch today. I had to covert a field stone arch. The filler is pink but drys white.

Not quite yet, But I have been able to sit at the desk for a little longer each time.
I have lots of new ideas. A few will have to wait for some one to help me cut some sheets of plywood and MDF into sizes I can handle by myself.

I experimented with a pink foam core for the column base. I decided a pine block would be better because I have the tools to make them quickly. It is almost not worth the trouble it takes to sand pink foam square.

Those castings are so precise - wonderful work. And having a selection of components means you can adapt and vary where and how they are used but even a cursory glance says 'DWARF' loud and clear.
Am I correct in guessing that column base is 6 inches across? :)

The grid is 1/2 inch so it is 3 inches.

It is not glued together yet. I may make part of the column from wood so that it will be stronger.

I decided to add more trim to the column base

I will clean this up a bit and make a mold.

The design looks gorgoeus. How many are you planning to make? I made nine large columns, but will only need four for the second hall terrain. Maybe I'll take a lyrical pic of the Fellowship entering the Dwarrowdelf hall (and if I put the terrain between two mirrors, I get an infinitely long hall).

With your moon lighting effect that will look great.

I cut out four cores but as I decided to make a mold because I used up the parts so fast. There are eight main parts but sixteen corner blocks in the base. There are thirty two corner blocks per column. There was only one corner block on the original mold. I am going to make a new trim part mold as well. Eight large columns will take all of the blocks I have cast. I am going to make four in the first wave.
I have an ax head floor mold and a rune set I have not used yet. I have decided to make the custom dwarf brick pattern and create a wall builder mold with that.
Your campaign has inspired me to go back and up grade some of my terrain for the Fellowship Journey book as well.

Speaking of runes, I found these photo-etched brass runes while looking for photo-etched foliage:

I ordered two sets, but will more likely use these in my model railroad project than in gaming terrains.
