I'd wager 10, too. Laketown is 10, going off the poses. I wasn't able to get a good look at the gundabad Orcs - the minis seem to blend into each other with that horrid shiny paintjob they've been given.

That said though - 8 would still be substantially cheaper than finecast at £25, if we consider Gundabad Orcs to be the elite of the gundabad/dol guldur lists.

I wish the Gundabad's were fight 4, they don't seem that elite, but I do like the miniatures. They are braver morannons with a situational special rule in a nutshell.

I've only been able to find 8 different poses for them, I'm hoping they either forgot a couple, or they'll be 8, but be cheaper. What I really care about is points per dollar, with the newest plastics, you get 140 pts for 40 dollars, or 3.5 pts per dollar. However, the 18 goblins from last year are only 72 pts for 35 dollars, so that box only netted us slightly more than 2pp$. When you consider that for a Goblintown army, you need to spend $70 on 144pts, while Mirkwood armies only need to spend 40, the new stuff is actually a better deal (if you buy to play rather than paint/collect). Laketown armies are going to very expensive if they are priced the same as Mirkwood.

I'm guessing the Gundabad Orcs will come in boxes of 12. I just got the DoS book today, and in the third Dimrill Dale scenario it requires 36 Gundabad Orcs. Expensive though they are, GW tends to build its scenarios around the composition of their boxes/blisters.

Don't get your hopes up, the Flies and Spiders part II requires 24 Mirkwood Rangers.

Yep, further evidence to my eyes that those scenarios are from pre-August 2012 when they were still in the Hardback book and the production process of the Mirkwood Elves hadn't been finalised. Clearly the scenarios haven't been touched up in the face of the recent miniature releases.

Indeed, just look at the fact that Azog is in the Barrels Out the Bond scenarios and not Bolg like in the movie.

If there is a scenario with 36 Gundabad Orcs required this makes me think (or hope) that they will be in boxes of 12 or 18. (3x12=36 and 2x18=36) Unless of course Games-Workshop don't bother to take that into consideration which would not surprise me. We will see in the next week or so. Still looking forward to the models.

That is literally impossible, have you seen the size of those models? They'd literally never fit more than 10 on a sprue. It will be 8 or 10.

Yeah that makes more sense. Ten has been the way of the hobbit.
Even if there 36 gundabaf Orcs needed for the scenario, that dosent mean more in box, sure this Games workshop were talking of right?

Well, they always used to design the scenarios in such a way that it was easy to collect the required forces. However, it appears that this is no longer true. My guess is that because of the change from 2-3 movies, the scenarios were written long before they had all the production details for the miniatures worked out.

Not to mention their HUGE SIZE.

No offense, but I call BS on that. No way would a horde army cost over 100 bucks per warband. You need a reliable source to back up that claim.

I'm sorry man, I have no reason to tell fake news. This has been posted on the Italian forum Sito dell'anello

Looking at the bright side, these are all really cool models!

Yeah I agree.
The army justs not worth the stats for that.

That's a nice sculpt of Gandalf. It captures Sir Ian's body language very well. However, how many different sculpts of Gandalf do we need? There are so many holes in the range that to continue doing sculpts of the same character, especially in a one-off blister like this, seems silly. If it were a part of a boxed set, I could understand it, but like this?...

Another Gandalf! Nice pose though! Is that the one featured in the painting guide in the dos book?
