Really nice work here. Love what you've done with the Arkenstone.

Just a quick update for you guys, the army itself seems to be finished paint wise, just 12 more bases to do. After that I will probably be converting some more warriors to add including mohawk Dwalin as he is amazing :)

Also some eagles are in the pipeline as I await the mail order arrival of Dwalin and more grim hammer models :p will post more WIP pics of them as they come along.

For now some poor images of that which is complete:

A very nice looking army, I especially like the colour scheme and the bases, I have never seen this before. Very well executed as well! 8)

I'm pretty sure all that comes to 510 points. One grimhammer may not be able to march to war  Excellent painting!

Very nice.

GW sure missed a trick by not properly armouring the Erebor warriors.

Although if the solution to GW's error is for most players to buy two sets of models for every 1 set of warriors, maybe they're actually geniuses. XD

I really like this army; snow bases make great little displays for each model.

beautifully done, you've managed to get a very realistic rustic/worn look on them. This dangerously makes me want to start collecting mini's again. 8) As a suggestion I'd say you could add more dirt or upturned snow on the bases, rather than just crisp white.

Which miniatures are these, are they converted?
Very nice work, look forward to more from you

I have added footsteps in the snow, as well as patches with upturned snow, but in the images this becomes a lot less apparent. Perhaps I will have to add more still, or as you suggest some muddy features, though I am not convinced that would happen in a frozen landscape with a thick pack of snow to walk through.

Almost all the minis are a conversion, a combinations of warriors of erebor weaponry and the bodies of the Grim hammer box.

Thanks for all the replies guys, much appreciated :)

regards,
Mortaal

That's a really great job there. Love the subdued tones. What are you planning to do with the leftover erebor warriors?

Thanks, well most of the warriors are mangled having cut off arms and weapons. I am thinking about using them in some terrain pieces as slain dwarf warriors, but nothing is definitive. And I still have quite some shields and spears left to covert another box of Grim Hammers led by Dwalin the young :)

Mortaal

These are really nice. I've seen them in real life and then they are even better.

Mortaal is convincing me more and more everyday with his awesome models that I should start with "the Hobbit". Big chance I'll buy Azog's hunters, so I can hunt some dwarf.

Keep up[ the good work Mortaal and hopefully we will see your eagles soon :D.
