Hullo there

Yesterday two mates and I had a nice battle. It was moria vs rohan vs galadrhim.

Here's some photo's:

Then we stumbled across a problem. A formation of riders of rohan was fighting some goblins. Cavalry charged and would be hitting first. Then a troll charged in the flank of the cavalry. That means the troll got to hit first. He killed the two riders he was facing.

Our question is was how many dice do the riders of rohan have to give up? That is the two riders they would have lost( 2D6) but what of the 6 D6 they ought to get for charging. Why would their charge bonus be nullified? They still charged and the rules cleary state that even so the troll charged the riders afterwards they get their charge bonus! We've looked it up and the the second question is who has to 'move back in the fight' to avoid stranded units? does the troll move on to the riders of do the riders move in direction of the troll? That would mean the riders would fights less goblins that before?

Here's some photos along with my text.. Hope you guys understand my problem.

From my understanging the Rohirrim lose the strikes from the cav that died, thats pretty clear in the rules. The troll killed them before they made contact with the goblins and I'd say the troll moves in as the rohirrim are in essence "clipping" him because of his move and the rules never show a move that reduces the number of companies that are already in a combat

yes but does that mean the formation of riders loses just two D6 for the two riders that were killed? Or to they lose 8 D6 (6 D6 charge bonus and 2 D6 riders) ?? that was the point which was unclear.

Again with the clipping.. who clips on to whom? Does the troll move forward to still be in base contact with the riders? Or do the riders move towards the troll to still be in base contact?? In that last case the riders would make less base contact with goblins so would those goblins not be able to strike?

Why? I'd say that as there is now one company less, they lose all dice associated with that company...
