I also scored a bunch of "grey market" metal Easterling Pikes on Ebay. I think I have 2 formations 5 or 6 companies strong. They are in my Khamul's Easterlings Battlehost. So yeah, I got tons of metal miniatures, and a massive amount of backlogged painting to accomplish.

Again back on point...It was difficult to afford to play WOTR with all the metal, and now Finecast (which I think has more definition in features). It is making it even more challenging to collect.

Yes I totally agree, I also play WOTR every week and can only collect armies who have a lot of plastics in them, not always my preferred army but more affordable. One of the reasons Mordor is so good, cheap plastic orcs on ebay, even though painting them is a bind numbing.

An army of Finecast, well that would be mega bucks, but i guess only heroes and captains/command units have been produced so far.

What I would like to see is the Heroes/Captains released in the high quality plastic like they do for some of the Warhammer figures, the Nurgle Chaos Lord for example. I have painted a couple of these and they are superb, loads of detail and alot more robust than Finecast. You have to see and assemble one to realize what GW can do with injection plastic.

Metal moria goblins are gone from the GW site. Same as the cave troll holding a hammer.

although i'm not a huge fan of FC I still hope they relaunch in FC.. just because they're such awesome models!

Except if you live outside aus, you can't order off it due to the GW embargo.

Hate it when miniatures disappear from the GW site :(
I always get a feeling that they are abandoning LotR.
I really hope they get back in FC or plastic!

Hobbits on ponies, old radagast have gone off the UK site.

Edit: and interestingly, the old halbarad is back on the site and the new one with horn + banner has gone.

Grey Company, Arnor Command also gone.

Death of gothmog is back on the website. but the witchking one isnt.

is this because they are slowly trying to scale down production of lotr models or making them into finecast, i have osd and try to go through each army strategically but it has never worked and i have become more of a 'hoarder' but ive always wanted to get round to getting these models and a lot of them just vanish? does anyone have a list of all of the models that have been taken down and not put back up on gw over lets say the last 12 months? thanks dom
p.s. sorry for the paragraph, big mouth turns into big amount of writing

Elrond, Master of Rivendell has gone to 4 Weeks on the UK site and so has the LOTR Bilbo.

How can they get rid of their only LOTR Model of Him?

It's so stupid especially with the hobbit movies coming out over the next 12 months I would have thought they would try to boost production for any new comers to hobbit or lotr but instead they are taking models away, any ideas what else has been removed from the shelves/online?

Would using Elrond, master of Rivendell as Elrond without heavy armour count as a proxy?

Yes, because what you see is not what you get! Though most gamers wouldn't mind this in a freindly.

A proxy is using one figure in place of another, e.g.: you don't have enough orcs, so you use goblins models as if they're orcs. In friendly games it's usually not a problem as long as the equipment is obvious, or the changes are easy to remember.
