So, I've been modelling for a few years now, and recently come across a lot of good sources for other models, especially Men and Elves, but I'm having this huge problem finding any good Orcs.

More often than not, the Orcs of other miniature sites follow the Warhammer thing, in that they are just huge and ugly and green. Are there any good, well made and semi-realistic looking Orcs?

Thanks in advance

I don't know if you've seen them, but Wargames Factory orcs look fairly close to LotR style orcs. Check them out:

Now the GW Mordor Orcs contain only 12 figures they are not as good value.

Personally though I would still buy them over the competition.

Those are great looking orcs and I love the variety that is available.

Have a look here:

The WF ones are OK, but a little tall (see page 2 of that thread).

One thing you could always do is use either the heads from the WGF orcs, or these orc heads from Hasselfree, on suitable human bodies. I would think that lots of barbarian models would make suitable orc bodies.

Ton of amazing links and sources! Thank you all!

I'd never had the idea of orc heads on human bodies, that could prove insanely helpful; an orc head on an uruk body could work well if converted properly.

Nice to see that my old topic is still of use. I'll have to update it, I've got some Mantic orcs and ghouls with some promising weapon bits and heads. I really should start up the "orc chop shop" again.

P.S. I bought a GW box of orcs this winter and felt rather cheated with only 12 per box.
