Thank you for the comments. The white spots are actually glare from the lights. I washed this heavily with Baddab Black and although they are supposed to be Matte finish it is still a bit shiny. Should get knocked down when I apply the Matt Varnish!

Thanks Dave! I like the conversion as well; unfortunately the sculpting of the cape let me down. I painted the cape last night and while I think it looks good, the sculpting imperfections still show up (probably because its a white cape!). Oh well, he's not perfect but he's still cool looking.

I also started painting Oin last night - his face also turned out great (if I do say so). One thing I can say for sure is that I'm very pleased at how well the faces, especially the eyes have turned out on all this figures so far.

Thanks! Its called ProCreate. Its relatively new to the sculpting world (as best as I can tell) but he has properties very similar to greenstuff. It also seems to hold hard edges a bit better (at least that what's I've read). I'm no expert so I can't really say if its actually better than greenstuff or not.

I am about out of greenstuff, and will need to get some soon. Would you recommend trying the ProCreate? Have you been pleased with it so far? Any buyer's remorse?

I don't have any regrets purchasing and using it. However, I picked up a lot of tricks online (e.g. how to take the edges off your tools, ways to keep your tools from sticking to the putty, and things like that) that I haven't tried out with greenstuff. So I can't say definitively that ProCreate is superior.

If Natarn or UKFreddybear see this thread they can offer a lot more commentary. I know that they've moved to using ProCreate.

Not sure where you are at or where you could order if from. I'd suggest that you google it and see who sells it in your area. My pack cost around $10 (from SpectreHobbies). I don't have the original packaging to see how much "weight" of putty that was. However, as best as I can recall in was on a similar scale to that of greenstuff.

Update on some painting progress.

Here's the nearly finished Gloin. I think my sculpting let me down a bit on the cloak as you can still see some of the rough edges. However, I'm still pleased with the overall results.

Here's the newest Dwarf, Oin. Again, I think I did a really nice job on the eyes and face for this guy. I painted the cloak a couple times trying to figure out which brown color I liked best.

Finally, I've been playing around with the bases I'm going to use. I've settled on the style and how I want to add the Character's names to the rims. This one here is in a silver. However, I think I've decided to use a flat gray instead of silver for the "name plate".

Some excellent converting there Brent! For the record I prefer sculpting with pro create, although I have recently heard of cases where the masters have exploded in the mould during the vulcanising process of casting. Of course that is only an issue if you are producing casts. If it is just for personal use then I would recommend procreate. To be on the safe side I have just bought some more green stuff for my commercially based sculpting.

I like your paint job amd base on your great beast, very good indeed, and I'm likinng the look of Gothmog even if you have gone the GW route of him holding reigns in his immobile arm, and I would really like to see it painted, the sculpting has been handled so well, it looks so dynamic, the Warg Chieftain was definately a good idea :yay:

I admire the amount of dedication you have put on the dwarves too, even though I think you've used too many axes.

All in all :yay:

- A great person for these rare models to belong to imo
