Hi fellas

First off thank you for this site, I cannot compliment you guys enough on creating this community. I know there are other lotr sbg sites but Iv not bothered with any as everything you could possibly need is here and more!

I have a suggestion and am not sure if I'm putting it in the right place???

I know we have "opponent finder" and the post with where everyone ( well the ones who bother to say) is from, but would it be possible to have an interactive map screen which you can zoom in and out of that has flags/markers showing where everyone who has a profile is situated? This would be much easier to use and I think would engage people to interact locally and thus bringing the community closer.

You could have clickable tabs for as an example one to show members locations and a diff tab/colour to show official / unofficial clubs.

This could all be stuff of dreams I'm not skilled enough to know if its even doable but I think with a little push we could get more clubs/meets going which would broaden the community and build the hobby.

Let me know what you think even if its just to say "get back in your box Ste!!!!" Lol

I think its certainly an interesting idea tho to integrate this into the site would fall on one mans shoulders alone - The Dark lord himself Dagorlad. We'll see what he thinks but I know he is really busy behind the scenes at the moment.

Great suggestion tho we'll see.

It certainly is possible - we have/had an equivalent thing at CDO, but it wasn't integrated into the website. A sticky in the sub-forum linking to said map would be the easiest way, although I don't remember what program the map used.

Another tab/colour of pin in map could be for "Upcoming Games"................
Possibilities are endless really and it kind of ties a lot of the opponent finder, competition threads into one easy to use place. I envisaged a simple google maps format with coloured pins representing members, competitions, clubs, meets etc....
People could use even to host one off games as per Thermos " Battle for Bacon Butty", lol
Each event would have to be approved by admin or otherwise the map would be filled with half hearted event pins I reckon.... Or you could have apoll option on an event to guage interest before the date is confirmed?

I don't know how you'd integrate it but it would be fairly easy to create a Google Maps "My Map" and add the email of everyone who wants to be a part of it to collaborate. That way everyone adds their own info spreading the time needed over many people.

Actually you could just embed the map in a topic.

Any more ideas on this and if its feasable?
