WARBANDS

Hello everyone! Welcome to the thread for the March Painting Challenge! This month you have chosen WARBANDS

Rules

If you are unsure as to whether something will be eligible for entry, just post asking or PM me and I will let you know whether or not you may use it, as this months challenge could be open to many different alternative figures.

1.To complete the challenge a minimum of 8 foot models or 4 mounted models MUST include at least one hero. More than this amount can be painted and submitted if you so wish. If no hero model is available to you then an unamed captain or conversion is fine.

Your entry can be made up entirely of hero models if you wish to do so.

The Warbands theme of the challenge is not strictly taken from the rule system so feel free to mix and match your entries from accross Middle Earth but please try and keep it sensible - lets have no Aragorn , Sauron, Cirdan and Bilbo riding on a mumak with a load of Hobbit Goblins if you get my meaning lol. Any problems or questions post or pm me.

2. To enter the painting challenge, the miniatures you are painting must not be painted before starting and picture proof must be shown of the miniatures 'pre-painted' (unprimed, undercoated or if you are repainting and old miniature - in its' original paint scheme) otherwise your entry will not be eligible.

3. You may join the painting challenge in progress at any time, but must submit photographs of the completed miniature by midnight GMT of March 31st 2013. WIP images are welcomed and encouraged. A maximum of 6 photos of your completed entries please, this allows you to show your miniatures off from multiple angles.

4. Miniatures that are completed in time will be eligible to win the challenge. The challenge winner will be decided by the vote of the OR community. The community will choose one winner and one runner-up from the completed miniatures. Votes should be cast not simply on painting skill, but on merit, including creativity, application of painting techniques, artist improvement, etc. There is no prize available for the winners of this challenge, the challenge is solely for community participation and as an incentive for people to reduce their backlog and improve their painting skills.

5. Winners from the previous month are able to participate in the next months painting challenge, but they are not eligible to win in consecutive months.

Good luck to all and let battle commence!! :D

I'm submitting The Goblin King and 7 accompanying Goblin Warriors, never painted a Goblin for the Hobbit before and I've got the whole box set just lying there waiting to be worked on so this is the perfect inspiration to get stuck in and try and recreate some figures from my favourite film :)

Hi,

I take this painting challenge as a sort of kick-in-my-lazy-bum to get some painting done on me dunlending warband! After having painted some dunlending warrior's it is now time for the wildmen!

So here it is: Thyrdan Wolfsbane, 2 dunlending archers and 6 wildmen...maybe I'll paint more (especially wildmen with swords), if I get my new blisters in time...

Should be possible!

Too much information, Cruci :P

Here's my proof pic for this month's entry, provided I don't manage to overtake DMS in the final furlong of last month's vote :P

Boromir of the White Tower with an array of WoMT - thinking of making a nice little Osgiliath diorama. Good luck everyone!

I really would like to take part, but I'm not sure about how much time I will have for the hobby this month...
Well, here is my task: Fresh supplies of Ebob Normans (my warriors of Dale have not arrived yet...^^)
Image

The miniatures will still be converted to fit to Middle-earth but I'll probably only paint the first 8 of them.

@Fin: Those Normans are awesome, do they scale well with LoTR minis?

It's great to see these challenges getting so busy... 11 proof pics already!

I might be entering an all-converted goblin warband but I'll have to see...

They scale perfectly. Somewhere between the tiny early ones and the huge late miniatures: http://www.finiatures.blogspot.de/2013/ ... rmans.html
