Before they overhauled the paints there were a series of colours called foundation paints.

My question, in the new set are these still a thing somewhere or is it back to 6 coats for an even yellow?

Foundation paints have been incorporated under the 'base' name.

Here are the "Base" paints- equivalent of the Foundations but brighter and they flow better.
Most cover in one coat, some in two thin coats.
