So after a long hiatus from painting anything Tolkien based I am back trying to paint hal decent minis again. The reason (mainly) for stopping painting these was a serious deterioration in my eyesight that made it pretty much impossible to see the fine details on these small minis, however I am going to attempt to have another go, I have got some fairly strong glasses now that will help though even with them please don't expect the same quality I used to produce on the Lotr range.

The base is from Secret Weapon and is basically a WWI trench themed base I thought that the mixture of duckboarding and loose dirt/ stony terrain would work well for Goblin Town.

That skin tone is rather lovely! I really like the base as well, Secret weapon make gorgeous bases! Nice idea to use it for this purpose!

I look forward to seeing your progress.

Ive done some more work on Gandalf, the inner robes are now done and I 've added the base colours and shades to the outer robes, its a bit untidy at the moment but all that will change as the highlights go on.

I've stuck with the grey for inner and outer robes I don't like GW's use of a bluey grey on the inner area, after looking at countless stills of Gandalf I fel this is the right way to go.

If this is not up to your usual standard, then what the heck did you usually make? It's gorgeous

Lovely to see your painting again. It's a joy to see these little works of art.

The sculpt looks very detailed from your pictures, would you agree or is it just your painting?

I agree with the previous posters, if your eyesight is handicaping you on your painting, it certainly isn't showing on this figure. That face is wonderfully done! I can't wait to see the mini once you are finished.
