Ok, I have recently found all of my old lotr sbg stuff (coincidentally just after reading unfinished tales and the hobbit) and have asked my friends if they want to play again, at the moment we all play warmachine and hordes.
I want to play goblins and on another forum i was told it is better to get 2 armies at a time (a good and a bad) so i have decided on dwarves and goblins.
At the moment i have
Goblins:
1 captain
Gollum
7 goblins with spears
5 goblins with shields
5 goblins with bows
1 warg

For dwarves I have:
Dain ironfoot
Balin
Gandalf (he can work with dwarves right?)
3 dwarf warriors 2 with shield 1 with 2 handed axe
6 dwarf rangers with 2 handed weapons
6 dwarf rangers with throwing weapons
5 dwarf rangers with bows

So my question is what should I get next? (if my friends agree to play) for either army
Any help is appreciated

Depends if you want the new "goblin town" goblins, or the moria goblins. If the former, you'd probably be best served with the new starter kit, plus a captain. If the latter, lots more goblins, some prowlers, Durburz, a shaman, and a troll or two. Too bad the Mines of Moria kit is no longer available, you might check ebay.

Goblins also go together nicely (IMHO) with beasts, like spiders, wargs, and bats. If you take lots of wargs, the warg chief is handy because he has good standfast; otherwise, Druzhag can really make bats, spiders, and wargs more lethal.

I've never really played dwarves, so hopefully someone else can chime in. However, lots of people like Khazad Guard. New dwarves appear to be coming for the Hobbit...first time I've been tempted to build and paint an army of them.

Bolg is an Orc not a Goblin he cannot lead Goblin-Town Goblins, only Hunter Orcs, you ill need a Goblin Town leader eg; Great GOblin, Grinnah, Captains

You can take Gandalf with dwarves, but as an ally. He can't lead a warband of them. Something that I was supremely gutted about.

Balin and Dain are excellent heroes. If you kit Balin out with Durins Axe he becomes even better. I would suggest putting some Iron Guard and Khazad Guard in the same warband, 2 attacks for the Iron Guard and +1 to wound with the Khazad. Plenty of normal warriors with shields. Also think about a ballista for taking out some of the monsters that you'll inevitable come across.

With regards to goblins, wargs and trolls are a must. I'm a huge fan of the watcher as it can pop up unannounced anywhere you like. That can really spoil someones day. You can never have too many goblin warriors. take a shaman with Fury and groblog as your leader as he reduces the Fury roll to a 5+. A goblin drum can also come in handy but it depends on your points value for the game.
