Hello all,

I am completely new and have never played (i ordered the starter set and will get it next week), but i was scooping around on GWs site, and noticed there is a lot of other evil guys you can purchases, but the only "good guys" set, is the white council?

Anyone got any idea how come? have they stated they will release more good guys in a near future?

Welcome to the site and the hobby.

If you click on The Lord of the rings which is in the hobbit section, you will find all of the current models of the lotr series which we have been told by GW will be fully compatible with the hobbit.
Concerning the hobbit models, there will definitely be more releases as the films come out and I am hoping for some filler stuff in between them. And you have come to the right place to hear about it first.

Any questions don't hesitate to ask. Everyone is pretty friendly here.

Thanks a lot mate.

Oh, so GW has said the old models are fully compatible with the hobbit series, so i could easyli collect those as well and merge into the armies?

Is there any restriction to armies, or is it just good vs evil? Can i for instance buy a watcher in the water and add with the goblins army from the hobbit series, and some rohan riders and elven rangers with the hobbits?

Where are the stats and point costs even located for this? :P

I suggest reading both the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings novels and checking out the appendices in LotR as there are so many races, kingdoms and places mentioned that there is great scope for armies of both Good and Evil. Then take a look at the GW minis with a better understanding of who you are dealing with.
There are many discount retailers and there is always eBay so you shouldn't have to pay full price for any of the minis if you are careful.
Welcome to the madness!

The stats for the existing LOTR range can be found in the five current sourcebooks, they contain everything you'll need for profiles and armybuilding.

As for mixing and matching troops, I wouldn't expect there to be any problem. We'll find out for sure within the next few days, but GW have said that LOTR and the Hobbit will be fully compatible.

And finally, I feel the same way about the lack of good guys. Trouble is like FOTR before it, with it being an 'introductory' film most of the armies will appear later on. We champions of good have plenty to look forward to; Wood Elves, the men of Lake Town, Beorn, possibly a new range of eagles, etc etc. We just have to wait for them :(

Greetings, and welcome to the One Ring!

Like KnightyKnight said, the five current sourcebooks will tell you everything you need to know about playing with any of the current LotR models and how to build alayable army.

If you have any further questions, don't be afraid to ask. With a few exceptions, we don't bite!
