I was just wondering if this has happened with anyone else.

I purchased a 24x dwarf warriors and was surprised to open the shrink wrapped box to find 24x dwarf rangers. I know they don't make 24x any more but I was wondering if GW would replace my rangers for warriors as I already have 24x rangers and don't need 48 of them.

Does this happen often? Has it happened to you? What did GW do for you?

I've already emailed them but its been a few days and I've had no reply.

Did you buy them from a GW store? Just take the box back to a store along with your receipt and explain the situation, usually the staff will be happy to help. I once returned a box of Mordor Orcs to Warhammer World because a single Orc archer had a broken bow and the staff were perfectly happy to replace it for me even though the store was closed at the time. (the broken piece was missing otherwise I would have just fixed it myself).

The store I got it from is several hours away. It was also his last box! I'm concerned I'm sol here cause they don't make the 24x anymore.

I once bought a box of 24 uruk scouts, but 8 bases were missing, I bought it in a non-GW store, so they didn't gave me any bases.. >.<
Now I've got plenty of spare bases, but back then it was one of the first boxes I bought, so I didn't had any spares.. very annoying.

Games Workshops usually has top notch customer support so I'm sure if you took it back they would generally replace it. However since it was their last box that might be a bit more difficult. Ask them if they have a few in storage and explain your problem. How long ago is it since you bought them?

If you took the Rangers back and explained they would probably just open up two of the half (12) boxes of Warriors and give you those sprues in exchange, and send the Rangers back to factory to be reboxed or desposed of.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone. I got them 3 days ago, so not very long ago. I will just have to head back down to the shop and see what they can do. I still have not heard back from GW online customer service!

I ordered the Great Beast from an Indy supplier and when the box came it had a Watcher in the Water inside! I sent it back to the Indy, who then sent it back to GW and it was switched free of charge.

Oh that is good news I wonder if GW will let me ship it back myself and switch out the guys? I really don't want to spend all that money in gas!

Well not exactly. GW said I had to send it back to the retailer who in turn should then forward it to them, because technically it was the retailer who originally purchased it from them before selling on to me. Hope that makes sense lol.

Before you drive back down to the store, you should call. I've tried GW Customer Service through email to no avail; they never responded. However, I've called them on two occasions, once for some missing bases from the Battle of Five Armies boxed set, once about some poor Finecast models. On both occasions, they unquestioningly asked for my address and informed me that I would be sent replacements, free of charge. I didn't even have to return the other models.

I would really love to keep the extra dwarf rangers! I finally got an email back and basically their online support is useless, suggests I call in. First thing tomorrow I'll give them a ring and hope for the best.

Just got off the phone. 5 min phone call and I get to keep my 24x Rangers that I got due to a mistake in packaging. I am also receiving 24x Dwarf warriors in the mail.

I have a ton of respect for GW and its customer service staff!

Good News! 8)
It's a wonder how they can afford to do that with the price of their miniatures being so rock bottom low. Oh, wait a second, . . . .

What? GW Gave you 24 free guys without return???

Honestly, I don't get this company sometimes. The one moment they're acting like they need have every last penny you have, the other moment they're incredibly nice...

Oh well, all in all great news for you I suppose!

GW is really good about correcting the mistakes even if you do buy it at an outside vendor. Call their customer service ASAP and they will usually correct the mistake within 48 hours or so. When it is something like Rangers instead of Warriors, They are going to want the code numbers off the box, so it is really important to keep it because that way the can track if this a fluke or a big mistake ~Brian
