Which good cavalry units are the best in the game IYO? Why? In which class(harassment, hit&run, heavy lances, archers, heavy non-lances etc)? Feel free to tell, as I've been playing way too few cavalry in my life, but when I have them, I crush all before me. I beleave that's a good reason for me to search for the best cavalry, no matter the costs(mwuhaha!). You're allowed to laugh now :P

Dol Amroth knights with imrahil. heavy armour, lances, shields, armoured horses and all count as being within a banner if within 12" of imrahil.

Definately Dol Amroth knights, D6 F4 and the Imrahil being a banner...

IF not them then I would lean more towards a light cavalry choice such as serpent riders (F4, poison lances)

Morgul knights are better than KoDA, Terror is a nice skill for a mounted model, and they cost like KoDA

But Morgul Knight are Evil and the question was about Good cavalry.
I like Galadhrim Knights too, they just need some support.

The best mounted unit is the Rohan "Son of Eorl". 2 Attacks, D6, F4, moves 12". Thats 6 attacks on a knockdown, and if you are charged you have 2 attacks to kill the silly ork or 4 if you need to shield. No contest. Especially with all the other options listed above. My Sons eat Dol Amroth for breakfast and instill terror in Morgul Knights.

Cavalry can't shield. But they are great.

This is news to me. I re-scanned the rulebook and couldn't find this, can you point me in the right direction?

Page 46 under the rules for shields:

Quote:
Note that this cannot be done while mounted on a steed, only models on foot can defend by shielding.
