I agee. People chastise you if none of your 3 wraiths at 2,000pts (which is too few) is Khamul. Anyway, I have a personal system for attempting to create game balance for myself by assigning each unit an UBRPV which must be within 10% of the total pts to be useable, if it goes over that it is too good, under and it is too bad.

Just out of curiosity, what might you mean by UBRPV?

Gollum always kills just one soldier, no matter, how many had been killed?

How can the enemy discover Grima, I'm not sure?

Ah, Bastion, you're ressurecting has reminded me.

For anyone interested. UBRPV, coined by me, stands for 'unnofficial but reasonable pts value' in other words I work out the competitiveness of an army by totaling up the pts value that I think each fomation/hero should be.

Gollum kills 1 to 6 (or 1 to 3), he may have just been unlucky. Grimi is discovered bypassing or failing a courage test on the roll of a double eg, two 5s, two 1s, two 6s etc.

So, if I put gollum between berserkers, then he need 2 hit to kill one, right?

I thought that was right as well. I've not been following this so I don't know what people have said but basically Grima is best used with any army that relies on draining courage and magic so he is most useful in Angmar but I have seem Mordor armies that have used this tactic as well, he should be picked to augment the skills your army has don't take him otherwise just be aware he can be found out easily

Gollum on the other hand is useful for all armies and is should be picked depending on what army you are facing rather than using. At 50 points he is expensive but can only be found by Elrond, Gandalf or Aragorn if they don't have any of the then in there army you are fine (no one takes Elrond anyway). He is best used against elite armies like elves, dwarves or Isengard if your playing evil vs evil then put him in the strongest formation (either Defence or Resilience) you can find so every time you a kill you get another one free, this is especially true with shooting, if you can just get a kill or two of against some Berserker or Vault Wardens he can easily double the amount you kills you get. However if you put him in a 6 company strong unit of WOMT neither you nor your opponent will really notice his effect. Just remember he is an Epic Hero so make sure you jump him around to which ever formation he will cause the most damage to continue with the Berserkers if because of his presence your opponents hide them behind another unit switch him to some Wargs Riders or similar where his rule is great at getting rid of R2 guys. His expensive cost mean that you have to keep doing this for him to be cost effective but if you do he can be a real nuisance and well worth his points

Sorry, I confused Gollum with Mauhir, he does kill 1 model. Regardless of its resilience.

ElfGeneral has it right about the Duskwraith (Grima Wormtongue).
