Evil got the most attention the couple of (years? months?) with mainly evil releases.

Bolt throwers are great weapons.
Never was allowed to use them against my opponents, as well as my trebuchet.
They thought it was to overpowered.

Wait what, so your opponents dictated to you what you could and could not use?? I might think Saruman and his Sorcerous Blast is overpowered, but that doesn't give me the right to not let Dead Marsh Spectre use him. Ultimately, everyone has the right to use any of the Official GW profiles they wish to, including for instance all the new profiles first introduced in White Dwarf like the Gundabad Goblins, Dwarf Shieldbearer and Kings Champion, the Cave Drake and the Ringwraiths.

Any restrictions on use of officially published GW profiles should be through mutual agreement, not some arbitrary pre-condition from your opponent.

Your opponents sound like unpleasant people to play with.

Indeed you are right, but they where the only opponents against who I could play.
I wasn't so picky with who I could play against, especially now when there is no one left to play against.

Bolt Throwers and Treebuchets aren't overpowered at all, sure they can be good, but you do pay points for them, and as long as your opponent rememeber to have a few looners outside their formation, there is only a one in sixth chance that a hit will actually do any real damage.

I would go as far as to say they are underpowered, unless you are very lucky.

Yes they most likely are, but they are a lot of fun to use when used wisely.

I had a very beautiful moment when fighting against elves.
I fired my trebuchet in a nice tight block of elves, rolled a six and suddenly there where around the 100 points of elves gone!

Usually I upgrade my bolt thrower so I can roll 2 dices.
I'm wondering, are the siege upgrades still in the new source books?
Or are they changed?

Still the same. Swift Reload is a must have, allows you to roll 2D6 and choose the highest result for the number of shots fired.

Swift Reload is a Catapult Troll that can't fight in combat.

Nah, only sort of. It lets you roll 2D6 instead of 1 and let you choose the highest. A catapult troll costs 70 points more.

A troll costs more because it has other uses, but its cost hampers it, though cheaper than a normal Troll. I thought the Troll did that too, but I never bothere reading the Catapult sectionn properly in Warbands because i would never even consider using the thing.

The swift reload lets you roll 2 dice and choose the highest for the number of shots.
The catapult troll lets you fire twice instead of once.

We're talking about the Avenger Bolt thrower, not the catapult...

Guys, just wondering if there is any consensus of opinion on the new sbg books? Are people converting to them or sticking with LoME?
Seems a lot of negative feedback about them reading through this post, and I am reluctant to invest in the new books, if they aint worth it...

Fwiw, this thread is old. Personally I had my doubts, but I much prefer the new warband system, and I can't think of a time where I saw an "I prefer LoME" post that was based on practical comparisons. It's not just the warbands either, but the way the new scenarios are structured. Sometimes GW does things right... :)

Hate to keep this post alive but this question is related.
Why is there no profile or upgrade in the Fallen Realms book for the Uruk-hai drummer? He's in the command box set so why not have a profile? :?

I would assume him to have the same stats as an Uruk Scout, and with the same rule as an Orc Drummer?
