Wow, i have never known a single figure to cause so much online chat! Having made the figure and now painting it i can say its BRILLIANT, really nicely sculpt with an amazing base. To say "I hate this figure" is a bit strong in my opinion :o

There is only one variety of tails and claws possible (if you want something to look evil), and the heads are (at least, to me) not similar at all. Gulavhar looks as much like the Balrog as this one.

I was referring to the bladed growths on the legs, and the fur, both of which are shared by the two models. But I phrased it wrong - what I should have said was "the Dweller also reminds me of this model" [the Varghulf]. I didn't mean that there was a strong similarity, just that GW appears to have borrow features from that (Warhammer) model, as well as the Balrog.

The Wings and Claws are very reminiscent of the Balrog, as is one of the two heads. The other head, looks reminiscent of Khorne Daemons (Skulltaker).

Note that I havn't said that I hate the miniature.I just find very little to be unique about the model, it appears to borrow too heavily from other designs. GW could have done better I think.

Sigh, there were only "at most seven", but there definitely were more Maiar in Morgoth's service.

I am talking about Morgorths service..........

Does anyone else really hate the Dweller in the Dark model? To me it just looks like a really skinny and wimpy Balrog.
