Hi,
this is really an extention to the "how much can i see thread" but thought id start a new topic.
I am a little confused about the use of artillery, are my following thoughts correct.

As long as the artillery has not fired previously in the game it may move. Once the unit has fired it then has to stay in the position it was in when fired. If that is correct does the rule of moving over half your distance preventing you from shooting still apply?
EG. a unit moves its full move value and wishes to fire, would it then have to wait until the shoot phase in the next turn or can it shoot in the following shoot phase?
Any thoughts?

Artillery cannot move, once deployed, and therefore cannot be driven back. (Official Update 1.1 Pg. 3) The update also says that the unit can be deployed in defensible terrian. And I think, but cannot find right now, that if it comes on board as reinforcements it stays pretty dang close to the board edge.

Crossbows are a different thing. I read it that if they move in the preceeding move phase they cannot shoot. But I am not so clear if they can call Heroic Shoot. We played that if you only moved half move value, you could call Heroic Shoot. Any help on that would be appreciated.

So artillery cannot move at all then? Didn't realise that. Intersting thanks for clearing that up.

As regards crossbows my local GW said they can call heroic shoot but i suppose that view would vary in different stores.

@ stormcrow. Rangefinder says it all.

Now for the reason of my post:

@ Rangefinder. I think (and most people seem to) that if you call Heroic Shoot, you can Heroic Move, ATD, move full distance, everything, even if you have crossbows.

I've never seen anyone play it any other way. I think they shouldn't be able to but that is a houserule.

Re: the arty from reserve, we allow them to make a full move on to the board. Since it is from reserve, it can't be a heroic move (due to timing) but this potentially is enough to pop them into a terrain piece within 6" of their arrival point. I guess it *could* be a double move if the hero was also in reserve.

Cheers
