I made up a new set of rules for the rangers of gondor. I did this because they are not good enough. Here it is

F S D A W C 8 Points
4/3 3 4 1 1 3

Weapons: Bow sword and armour. They also have the rule wood elves in the woods.

Options: longbow at 1 point; Camoflauge at 2 points: Spear at 1 point

Camoflauge: No enemy can have a line of sight on the model unless they are within 6 inches or 15 cenimeters.

Longbow: elven bow

Any good?

some models are better than others for some unknown weird ranger yeah but i think you should leave it as it is

just a normal longbow not a elf it takes away half the value of elves

Errrr.....a long bow IS an elven bow, just a different name...

The rules would be good for the Veteran rangers, but not so good for those who don't have such expertise.

I think the these rules do justice to what the rangers are. Experts at archery. I dont think much imagination goes into the lotr stats and yet the 40k and warhammer stats obviously have had a lot of effort gone into them.

remove the longbow because they cant be as good as elves at arching

also the camouflage should be like an elven cloak because they may be good at it but without any cover they (or anyone else for that matter) cant acheive that level of stealth without any cover

The word is archery. And why can't they? They're the mosts skilled of men, why shouldn't they be as good as the elves?

Well, RoG are alreday as good as elves at shooting, there bows just aren't as good. And what does it matter? You sound like you want elves to have everything that everyone else doesn't have.......

elves strongsuites are archery and fighting and courage

there weakness are defense (wood elves) and points value

and thats the way it should be

I'd also like to point out that Men already have the same options as Elves. They can take Longbows. Some have 3+ shooting. The veterans of Ithilien should be able to have both, since there are very few people, except for the higher ranking elves, who could beat them at archery. They are easily as good as the most basic Elf at archery. Watch TTT/ROTK bits with rangers shooting. Look at their bows. Duuuh!

A RoG with a long-bow and 3+ is still different to elves seeing as they have defence 5 and huge courage etc.

i guess this is true

the longbow should at least cost 2 extra points seeing as thats how much an elven bow costs

i think they should come with camouflage and cost 10 because you cant really buy camouflage
