If the pic is cut off try right clicking it and open the image in a new tab, then you should be able to see it on your laptop ;^)

Excellent work Jobu! Looks great. I think you made the right call on changing the colour of the belly. I'm going to have to pull an all dayer or something to get my drake finished in time.

I said I was finished before, and now I have proof (sorry the pics are too big and blurry) 2 before pics:

One part way through:

And 2 after pics, firstly front:

and secondly back:

Of course, you'd have to be mad to vote for me when there's the like's of Jobu's drake, a huorn conversion, a Spider Queen conversion etc...

I'm almost done with Naneth Fuin, the Dark Mother of Dol Guldur (will play as Shelob). Hopefully my last pics from my mobile. They are better than my earlier one, but I just can't keep the dang thing steady enough for a close shot no matter how I brace it. If we don't get a new camera soon I'm going to bribe a friend (semi-professional photographer) to come over with hers...

A couple more pics some some write up of the paint scheme can be found at : http://tac-me.net/index.php/lotrmodels-wip/100-lotr-models-wip-sq4

I know it doesn't come close to the 8) :yay: of the Houron, Drake and others so far, but I am very happy that she's come out almost as well as I was planning and I think is going to look appropriately natural on the table with the rest of my forces...and I'm going to enjoy devouring pesky Dwarves and Men with her soon!

Is there any meaning behind the name?

Mother Darkness is the most direct Elvish translation, but can also be Dark Mother. I wanted to reflect some of the Elvish words for Mirkwood itself in her name. Their name for the forest is Taur-nu-Fuin which means Forest Under Darkness. I didn’t think some of the Elvish words for Queen rang well for me, and their word for Spider (Ungol) is the root word for Ungoliant and I didn’t want to tread there either. I liked the sound of Naneth Fuin most of all the combos I tried.

My concept behind her is that she is likely another daughter of Ungoliant (therefore sister to Shelob) or else is among the greatest spawn of Shelob. She dwelled for countless years in the dark depths of the Mountains of Mirkwood and with the coming of the Necromancer was drawn to southern Mirkwood where she spawned the lesser Spider Queens who in their turn produced the Giant Spiders. She has been seen occasionally near the Mountains still as well as the darkest depths of the woods around the Hill of Sorcery so it is unknown if she moves through the forest itself or if there are undiscovered caverns connecting the north and south of the forest.

I rarely take liberties with Tokien’s works, as I am far more of a fan of the world than I am concerned with maximizing army lists. But using a Shelob-profile Greatest Spider was a case where I think I remain on the believable edge of cannon while boosting my force. Comments are always welcome.

As i've been talking to you about your awesome Spider Queen before, you may know that I really love what you have done to it, it's a very nice conversiom, and well executed in a manner for play not designed for powergaming, but for what an army should be and hence, I would be tempted to give you my vote purely from a belief perspective.

Thanks all. That's a great compliment and is exactly what I was going for. I have grown up and lived my life in areas that have had their share of creepy spider encounters so I know how they CAN look. The GW models for the Queen and Giant Spiders are all too static for my tastes so I really put in effort on the pose for her.
