theavenger001 - thanks for the info about that troll, sounds like a great idea, only thing is I'm stumped as to how it can have legs. And thanks for the encouragement too. 8)

Hey guys. This week has been hectic with me packing and what not. It appears I won't be able to finish my troll. I was nearly finished with his skin but I lack the time I need to bring him up to my standards. The work here looks great and I'll be sure to vote. I'm excited to get back to painting for a week or so come November. Best of luck to all. 8)

Alan, that wing is gorgeous.

I've done so progress on my fell-beast, but I'm not very pleased with how it's turned out. I may start over again...

It just looks pretty bad and the paint is messy. On a more positive side, my Witchking rider is turning out quite well. :)

I love the 8-foot tall bottle of paint you have with him. 8)

Nice work on the Ent theavenger001!, I like how certain features such as the knee's and stomach form seamlessly out of the bark and those little indent details are a nice textural touch too. Any ideas for his face ? I always find that part the most troublesome.

Okay, I am pretty busy this month but I will give this a try. Doing the cave drake.

Hmmm, looks like I might have to hit it with some brighter colors. Anyway, i always liked blue dragons so that is why I went with the blue theme.

Thanks for the comments everyone, I am planning on having a craggy face with deep set eye's. Probably not a beard though as I see this as a 'younger' (lol) ent. I have to decide how much texture to put on the face, I don't want to have to little and make it look too wierd, but too much and it's not a face anymore....

@Jobu That's a really good start so far. I definitely think you need 2/3 more highlights on the scales, but you have a good start. Also, really good job with the eye, I like the very tiny white reflection dot. It makes eye's so much more realistic, but is so hard to do well. :yay:
Are you planning on going for the normal bone colour for the claws/spikes, or are you going to do something more exotic. (Maybe a red to match the eye's?)

Thanks, I have painted the spikes/claws/random stick poking out of it's leg thing a more bone type color. Planning on painting the tongue with a white to blue transition at the moment. The underbelly may be whiteish or greenish, have no decided yet. I put another dry brush of the purple on the scales this morning and it helped bring out the purple a little more.

Ok, by Bilbo's request, I'm doing this old Ral Partha beast.

According to the Tolkien Gateway: "In the late Third Age the dragons bred in the Northern Waste and Withered Heath north of the Ered Mithrin, stirred by the return of Evil, and began to make war with the Dwarves around year 2570 (Dáin I and Frór of Durin's folk were killed by a great cold-drake in 2589). It was perhaps in these wars that dragons swallowed four of the Seven Dwarf-rings." This beast is one of them. I think I'll make him a red one, Smaug's third cousin twice removed. A vain one, since he likes wearing a pendant on his neck and a ring on his horn. :)

He had next to no base of his own, so I glued him on an ancient, weird shaped Reflection X CD I pilfered from work.

Keep up the great work guys. I like it how Jobu straightened out the "tenticles" from the Cave Drake's head. Interesting choice of Dragon Ares B, hope it turns out well. And cool sculpt of an ent Avenger.
