Local player Ray beats up Andy in one game, and me in another. I salvage a *little* pride by winning one on the middle, but still.

report here: http://roughwotr.blogspot.com/2011/09/tempest-and-why-i-think-ray-is-going-to.html#more

Raymond's Easterlings erect a wall of Pike and prepare to defend the pirzes at all costs.
Image
Aragorn takes the Paths of the Dead to emerge from the back table edge and slaughter Mordor artillery on its hill-top perch.

Looked like fun! I like your boltthrower. Where did you get that?

This has nothing to do with your actual games but I think you shouldn't have restricted the Witch-king.

On the plus side, your reports were very interesting and I'm sorry you lost.

I think you are right about that and if I do it again, the restrictions will permit more Epic heroes than that list did. There would be something like one from a top-tier (eg Aragorn, top-tier Wratih), one from the second tier (eg Faramir, Witch-King, Amdur) then anything that was unrestricted last time would remain so.

Or if a person doesn't want any top-tier they coud have 2 second tier, but it wouldn't work the other way round sounds good.

Yep, that would be the way to do it. A better compromise between keeping things somewhat level so people have a fair-go and not taking away all the fun of having effective heroes. After trying it out, I can see the Mordor player's point (and it takes a LOT to make me sympathetic to Mordor lol) and this would be a good way to make the guidelines scale to 1500 pts - ie one tier 1 and two tier 2 or somesuch. That kind of model could be really helpful to the Elves too.

Re: The Witch-King, should he be restricted at all, or does he suffer enough from being a 200pt R2 hero? I did use him in a game with actual houserules (so he has the fate) and without the fate he has a nasty habit of getting killed when he loses.

Now I've derailed my own batrep thread, too ready to discuss rules tweaks!

Cheers

Andy made the bolt-throwers out of Zvedka 1/72 Roman artillery. I used the same kit as a basis for my own siege bows but I think he went that extra little step to get his looking nicer than what I did.

Too bad they got rolled over by Aragorn and his Axemen!
