It has been a very difficult thing to choose between them all. Every single one of them is worthy of a vote and there are so many to pick from this time around, which is great!

I am glad to see that most of them are getting votes and that it's not just the very experienced painters who are scoring well either. I'm finding this challenge to be great fun, and I hope everyone who has joined in is also getting something out of it.

I voted for Dagorlad's entry. It was a tough call but in the end it came down to Erunion's for originality (whilst retaining the Isengard feel) and Dagorlad's for the clean painting style.

Damn Dead Marsh Spectre has really taken off. His was one of my favorites also, vibrant colours plus I like the skull that is hiding around the base. If DMS gets a clear win out of so many great entries that really says something and that's something to be proud of.

Well, I am closer now to a decision...and in doing so I think I pulled a muscle. :)
My final four are:

Erunion
Dead Marsh Spectre
Elland
valpas

You guys are making it so hard to choose! :)

Since this was such a tough competition, I tried to take a systematic approach to working out who to vote for. I based my vote on the following criteria and ranked the top entries in each – face, shading, highlights, improvement, creativity, basing, realism and detail.

Face – DMS (the eyes, white hand and teeth are brilliant) and Sacrilege (painstaking work in recreating the face from the movie)

Shading – Bilbo (brilliant skin tone, a really dark and brooding feel to the mini) and Valpas (beautiful shading work as always)

Highlights – Erunion (just love the artistic approach to highlighting), DMS (well, just outstanding all round really)

Improvement – this is a tough one to vote on unless you have been following individual painters for a period of time. I based my decision on those that had submitted an Aragorn so it was easy for me to judge improvement. The top three for improvement where Heavysoul, Legolas and Sir Richard. I thought your entries this round where much improved.

Creativity – PoW and Legolas. I really liked your conversions. Well done for trying something different and using your imagination.

Basing – DMS (beautiful) and Draked (simple, but very, very effective).

Realism – For me, this is not so much about whether the mini looks like a character from the movie, but rather whether the painting looks realistic rather than too cartoonish. Sacrilege did an outstanding job here, but I also liked Draked and Wah Wing.

Attention to detail – I actually think Heavysoul did the best job here (the work on the leather is outstanding). It’s hard to tell in some photos. For example, it looks like Wah Wing did a good job at painting all the details, but I need a closer view of the mini.

So you can see from my list it was a very close call, but I ranked DMS highly in 3 categories so they get the nod. It is also the mini that probably has the most ‘wow’ factor. When you first look at it, you just go ‘wow, that’s a nice looking mini’.
Well done to everyone for making this such a great competition.

Managed to reach a decision finally. My vote went for draked for his very realistic style, great basing and overall nice, movie-like appearance. Well done! This was a tough one, I seriously considered several great entries.

Ok, I have finally whittled it down to my final two. While I have found all the entries to be excellent, and have selected two from my final four to choose from. Pasi and Jon had two fantastic pieces, and with a quality that I have admired for a long while, but with that said I have decided to go with two of the newer members in Elland and Dead Marsh Spectre to choose from.

Dead Marsh Spectre - Outstanding base, great detail throughout the miniature (arrow fletching, battered armor, teeth, eyes), great use of shading and color palette.
Elland - Also great detail throughout the miniature (eyes, white hand, sword and shield, armor), great use of shading and color palette as well.

In the end what finally got me two choose between these two was Elland's use of non-human eyes.

Excellent challenge this month and congrats to you all for making it so hard to vote!! Well done all!! 8)

@Edge67 that's a nice way of categorizing to narrow down your decision to a single vote. Seeing which entry check marked the most criterias met.

Well done to everyone, it was a very difficult decision with so many excellent entries, but I eventually decided on Sacrilege83's Lurtz because of how incredibly realistic the face is.

Now it's officially done. Congrats DMS on a job well done! I thought this challenge would be more neck and neck with no clear victor, but your entry has clearly taken this, awesome job once again.

And thanks to those who lended me their support as well, and great job to everyone else. Now get those monsters completed and entered!
