I have looked through the WotR rulebook and yet i cant find anything about hero shoot values :? . I know about heroic shoot and epic shoot but what about regular shooting? Is it the same as the rest of the battalion or more? and what about epic heroes like legalos and faramir?

I'm not sure I know what you are asking.

Apart from duels heroes don't really do any kind of combat on their own, just buff their formation so they don't need a shoot value of any kind.

They are just one more die in the formation's total. I don't believe there are any Epic Heroes that have a Shoot value in their Profile.

Heroes and Epic Heroes don't make a difference to shooting. They count as an ordinary model fromt hat unit for the purposes of ranged attacks.

It's something I've always thought was a bit odd - especially with the specifically shooty heroes (just have it that if the unit has a shoot value, they use the highest in the company: same as Fight). Maybe have it that units with ranged attacks may have +1 Shoot instead of +1 Fight from their captains too. I still think it's REALLY odd that they chose not to put how many bonus dice they get, but put a X+ value, which you then compare to a chart, but has no other bearing (such as needing to roll that to hit first etc). Why not simplify by having 3+ be replaced with the simpler 2 or +2?!?

I assume you mean the best shoot value, since higher shoot is bad.

I thought that was odd too. All I can come up with is that they wanted -1 as an option and felt a negative number would confuse some people.

Apologies, I did mean better. Higher as in higher quality. Yep. That's what I was getting at. Honest :P

I think that they originally had that you had to roll to hit and then to wound with it and left the values as they were or that they just wanted to copy and paste the SBG stats as much as possible. Either way, I feel it was laziness.
