I've fond an old white dwarf about the reclamation of Moria ' Camp. 1) they're almost the same as ours, but only 1 scenario was different... Maybe you could take a look at the db

I quite like the second dwarf, perhaps a battle of nandhurion hero?
But the other two are a bit to cartoony for my taste, of course that's just my oppinion but i would say no.
School takes a lot of time atm so I'll be a bit inactive for the next week.

Hi guys, it's been a while right?
I'm sorry, my computer was gone for 5 weeks or something.. it was a very stupid thing wich me and my cousin repaired all after all.. but that's another story (:
now that I got it back I can't find my article anymore, did you guys read it? And what did you think of it?
More news: I got myself a digital camera, so I'll be able to make nice pics. If you'd like I'll post some pics of the dwarfs and gobs I've been painting lately, if you like them I can write some painting articles perhaps? (:
Tell me and I'll add the pics in dropbox ;)

I got a dwarf archer of khazad dum and Erebor, aswell as an shield warden (shield guy only) and a prowler, but I'm not sure if I'll keep the grey robe, maybe I'll paint it black, tell me what you like the most (:
The main colour for the dwarves is blue, I did this so that you could use your Iron Guard, Shield Warden and Khazad Guard in both army so it won't get expensive, still there's a difference between them :D

More good news, my girlfriend loves the diorama I made her, I took some pics just before I gave it to her, I could post some links of the finished diorama if you'd like (:

cya later lads ;)
Jorn.

Hi everyone,

It's been a bit quiet.
How is everyone?
I've just finished my test week so, I've got a bit of spare time. :D
Soon I'll start on a few articles and if Raggbur will makes a few more scenarios, I'll start on the maps.

@ eaothen Good to hear your girlfriend like the diorama, I would love to see a few pictures.
When I'm back home, I'll take a look at your artilce in dropbox but I'm at school right now.
And more articles and pictures are always appreciated. 8).

@ TDOM: Any chance on an update on your great drawings?

Yes, sorry about the small progress, but I want to create a system for scenario two that can represent alll forms of skirmish battles that happend when the dwarf 'invasion' started.
I'm also waiting for GS to start with a small conversion article.

Raggbur

Hi all, as you asked aqan, here are some pics of the diorama (:
http://img26.imageshack.us/i/diorama1e.jpg
http://img201.imageshack.us/f/diorama2t.jpg/
http://img294.imageshack.us/i/diorama3.jpg

I couldn't put on the pics itself, it'd be to big.. even though it says that the pixels are 670 x 510.. first time I tried they were over 1000 each.. and yet they are the same if I put them on.. :s

I'll put pics of the dwarves on later today, I'm about to eat now :p

here are the dwarves and gobs (:
http://img703.imageshack.us/f/dsc00171.jpg/ the left one with the silver armour is for Erebor army, the one with the gold is for Khazad-Dum
http://img340.imageshack.us/f/dsc00176wj.jpg/ the back view of them
http://img529.imageshack.us/f/dsc00175ms.jpg/ this one has no visible armour so he could be used for both armies since the main colour is blue
http://img829.imageshack.us/f/dsc00173g.jpg/ vault warden shield guy, still need to paint his spear-ish lad :p
http://img64.imageshack.us/f/dsc00178e.jpg/ goblin prowlers, you guys like them? perhaps I'll paint the dark grey robes black, what do you think?
http://img215.imageshack.us/f/dsc00177l.jpg/ back view, you can see the rusty chainmail a little bit better here
that's it (: hope you like them :D
ps: I'll paint the bases grey to match moria (:

Hi all,
Long time no talk, I was kinda busy.
The diorama looks great, I guess she was really happy to receive it.

As I said, I'm busy at the moment(college, new job and house) so I was thing to do something less time-consuming for the project. I was thinking about painting some drawings etc, If that's alright with everyone?

Greetings

I know it's been quite a while but I've still been working away at this. I cleaned up my spider pic to make adding a background easier.

@tdomIt seems you where just a few hours earlier.
The spider looks very good and it will indeed make it a lot easier like that.

I haven't been active for the past few months because my grandparents died, I got ill (quite a few times), school took a lot of time and I spended even more time on school, trying to earn a way to get another course which also has a trip to Rome besides my normal lessons.

But it's about time to get back to work on this project.
today I've added the first scenario of the last campaign to the dropbox folder.
It's based on the ideas of Radagastbird and Barukhazad, a few pages earlier in this thread.
If there is anything wrong with it please say so as I just tried to make the scenario from the info they put in this thread.
here it is

Scenario 1: Prologue; The awakening of the Balrog.

Description:

Khazad-dum, the kingdom of mining and forging of metal. The miners and smiths are famous in whole Middle-Earth. But to keep up with the great expectations of their buyers they need to find more metal. The dwarves begin to dig for Mithril, the most precious metal in the whole world. When the dwarves dig deeper and deeper they make one mistake: they don’t know what’s beyond the surface. A group of brave miners encounter something mysterious on their working day. Something with shadow and flames. They encounter the great Balrog of Morgoth.

Historical Participants:
Good:
1 Mining Leader
6 Dwarf Miners
4 Dwarf warriors with shield

Neutral:
1 large boulder (W6 D8)

Evil:
1 Balrog of Morgoth.

Lay out & Starting positions:
The Battle takes place on a 56 by 32 cm board. On one side of the board there is the boulder and the dwarves are deployed here .Or deploy the dwarfs in the centre of the board? On the other side the Balrog is deployed. There are many lava streams across the board.

Objectives:
If Less than half of the dwarves exit the board Evil wins.
If The dwarf mining leader is killed, but more than half of the dwarves escape it is a draw
If More than half the dwarves exit the board Good wins

Special rules:

Point match: I’ll leave this for someone else.
Participants:
Good:

Evil:

Objectives:

I'll start making the board in half an hour, for a small article.

And so that you don't have to look it up, these are the sccenarios we came up with earlier.

prologue/scenario1: miners need to clear the entrance to escape from the balrog
scenario2: miners fleeing from the balrog. probably with some special rules of lava or something
scenario3: durin vs the balrog
scenario4: nain (durin's son) with some dwarves against the balrog
scenario5: the dwarves are being persued by goblins while fleeding from moria and the elfs of lotherien come to their aid. i think the dwarves have a wounded captain or something which they have to protect.

So first of all we'll need
-someone who wants to make the remaining scenarios for campaign two and three.( has someone heard something from Barukhazad)
-more artwork.
-conversion articles.
-general articles (like the how to base your miniatures)

and here's the old list of active(ish) membes

List of active members:

Barukhazad Profiles, scenarios, main editor
Radagastbird Proofreading
Aelfwine Proofreading, compiling,
Eaothen the brave articles (terrain)
Aqan maps, articles (terrain, painting,), artwork,
Dwarf lord of ered luin Articles (general, painting)
The Dragon of Moria Artwork
Raggbur Scenarios, profiles, conversion-work of Campaign 3?

List of promises:

TheBucklandBrewer Pictures dwarves and goblins
Baruk khazad pictures moria board
(we already have few but a bit blurry)
Evilatmind playtesting
Elros of Numenor ?

would everyone on the list (especially under active) post so that we know who still wants to/ is able to go on.

As always, help is more than welcome.

WOW! Now that's what I call cosmic timing. :O

I retouched the image to balance it better. Just added it to the Dropbox. :)

P.S. I wont be able to be fully active until after my exams in May. In late May I'll be able to focus my time and efforts into contributing more artwork.

Good to see that people are still keen on this project.

....I can do anything you need me to- proofreading, painting, terrain, whatever. I've been practicing sculpting stuff and I'm hoping to sculpt some dwarf stuff soon, like miners, cart, specially designed terrain bits and pieces like statues, throne and columns that people can use with HA moulds.
Unfortunately, Year 12 isn't very permitting when it comes to hobby.

But I'll see what I can do.

Hi guys how are you? I thought this was dead.. :( but great to hear you're still working on it!!
I'll still be able to join with articles if you like, but I'm very very busy with school the last weeks so I'm not sure when I'll be ready.. sorry.

If you'd like you can use my article in my WIP on how to create moria doors, here's the link:
http://www.one-ring.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=19749&start=80

As you can see in the link I also painted some Dwarves, If you like I could make an article on that too? Just tell me!

Cheers! :yay:

@eaothen: good to now you still want to help.
Any idea when it'll be a bit quieter with school (any holidays in the near future.)
I've taken a quick look at your article and will start putting it in the right format within a couple of hours.

@Elros: welcome aboard, the more the merrier.
If you pm me with your E-mail i'll try to contact barukhazad so that you can also see the dropbox files.
(He manages the account, but his last post here is from november so i'll send him an e-mail.)
A hirst arts article would be really helpfull, perhaps wait for the dropbox account, so you can see what articles there already are.
Oh. and are you any good at making scenarios for barukhazad made them but since he´s not really active atm.

I have good news and bad news on my article.
the good news is I´ve started on the board.
The bad news is that the last bit of wire for the hot wire cutter broke and I have to wait for my birthday to get a replacement. (june 22nd)
Once there are a few new scenarios I'll make maps for them but until then I'm not of that much use.
I can't draw but what do you think of something like this. (made this one for a large essayish thing for school
Image
But then of course with lotr drawings.
(I don't remember which one but you may either use the drawings of allan lee or john howe for as long as they are used for a non profit thing.)
Oh, and I've compiled campaign one so that you can see how te book will look.
It still needs artwork but it'll give you an idea.

If there is anyone else who wants to join or rejoin please post in this thread. (especially scenario writers and artists are very welcome.)

btw, I told in my previous post about the extra school work etc, I now may take the extra course and that includes a trip to Rome! :D :D

I'll have some time during easter holiday I hope, but I'm not sure of it.. I'll see what I can do, I'm working on my Moria board aswel right now so maybe I could write an article on how to make a Moria chamber and such? if you'd like I'll post a pic of an example, I just finished the floor at a room, just to try out and I think it looks pretty good ;)

I'll do some stuff when I have some time, yet, now school started again I'm already pretty busy for this week.. :(

ps: nice picture Aqan (:

Hi,
Good to see everyone is doing alright.
Yes, it has been a while and I'm doing fine, but I lack leisure time ( have to work 12hours a day). I'll try to be more active and i'll see what i can do.
All your creations, wheter it is artwork, scenario's or wips, are looking good^^ and i'm looking forward to see more of it!

I'm back from Rome
It was fantastic :D but I used all of my energy there and it took me two weeks before I could feel warmth or wasn't blinded by the most minimal amount of light after I returned.
But it was worth it very much and I'm ok(ish) now.
As you might have noticed I added Eaothen's gate article.
It's not yet proofread but I put it in the right format.
Do you want me to send it to Radagastbird?

Right now I have a holiday and I can't do a lot due to my health (so no cycling) but that means I have more time to work on this.
Artwork will follow as soon as possible.
Oh and Barukhazad, have you found any spare time for a few scenarios if you give me the dimensions for the boards and what to put on it, I'll also make the maps.

And shouldn't it be a good idea to open a thread where we ask for artwork for not everyno on the site will see this?

Ps: I found a teacher who wants to teach me Latin :D :D (and maybe a bit of ancient greek) so if everything goes well I'll be able to do my exams with everything I started with.
(started on the "gymnasium" got ill and therefore kicked off school after which they wanted me to do "vmbo", I then demanded to do 2 years of "havo" in 1 real year and after that went to the atheneum( gymnasium without ancient languages). So I'm really happy with this.)
(seems to be my lucky year, first Rome, now this :-D )

Hey, just thought i would make a suggestion as i am a dwarf player myself, howabout a dwarf ranger captain? Ive always felt the only things capable of leading my rangers are murin and drar but even they seem incorrect choices.
Perhaps a dwarf captain with 5 defense, increased shoot value (to 3+) and either the ability to shoot twice OR the ability to throw an axe with a -1 penalty to hit but a +1 on the roll to wound for 65 points (with bow or throwing weapon)
Maybe a crossbow option (with the ability to move 2.5" while using it) would work too, seeing as dwarves are masters of industry...
Sorry if this seemed like a pointless or late suggestion :(
