The reasont hey don't do them for £15 is because they would make a loss on those sales and people would ONLY buy those boxes (unless playing Daemons). The battalions are a ridiculously easy way of expanding your army, especially if they cost less than a single box of the one of the units inside. People would simply buy them and sell the others, making a profit/reducing their own costs, whilst also getting their regiment.
I think that a "sample" box for each army (think the £5 boxes of a handful of troops, for example) would be excellent and really help them (especially since people could use them to expand units without buying a big box and having loads of spares), as well as help newcomers try out a few options before settling on one army.

Agreed, I remember when you could get a Space Marine battle squad (five figs) for £5. If they did that for every army it would help and still be profittable. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw that some time in the future, I certainly hope so.
GW is expensive, but I don't think anyone can say you don't get a huge amount of fun for your money. Thats the beauty of the hobby.

yeah,i like the idea of sample armys,i don't play warhammer(40k or normal) but i could actually see that one going over real well with the WotR-ers and even SBG-ers,like 5 goblins with sheilds and swords and what not.i konw that alot of the sprues they already have/sell have several types mixed into one but why not find some simple computer operated machine to start cutting some in half and sell them as "mystery troop packs"?i'd love the idea and would prefer buying a couple boxes of that compared to one box of pre-alotted 20 or 24 count unit boxes.(i don't know how other people are with having a chance with doing that to end up with all of a certain troop type but with me,a little risk like that would generally make me want to buy it more than the normal "blah" box.thats why the lottery is so popular among people,if they actually thought about they might not play it but it does increase the "impulse shopping" sales quite a bit).please let me know if what i'm speaking/typing is rubbish

If other companies can produce top quality 28mm minis for say, £18.oo for 44, even allowing for royalties to the Tolkien/film companies, why are GW only offering 24 minis for the same or more? This must impact sales eventually as people will simply not be able to afford them, either for themselves or from friends/relatives buying presents. Drop the prices or give us more minis per box

When someone with a really competitive range comes along, with a really good rules system and lore behind the range, then it will be interesting to see what happens. GW has had all the pie for - well, ever. But times are changing....
