What option would you choose for the dragon in general - breath fire or fly? I always take thick hide cause this just makes the dragon become a beast but i can't decide between fire and fly so i always switch... What do you think?

Well I guess it depends on how you want to play it. If you opponent has monsters or tons of very strong heroes of his own, I suggest FIRE to make quick work of them. But FLY gives you more maneuverability obviously and if there are scenario objectives that are important that requires you to get to a place quickly and hold it, well there you go. As well you can flank troops with FLY or drop in on those who think they are safe behind cover or the lines of their own army. I think FLY is more valuable just because FIRE BREATH is limited to the dragon's will store.

Iam aware of that, i just wanted to know what one youd choose in general/which one is worth more... For me its fly anyway at the moment cause my mate just got the shadow lord with his annoying speacial rule...

Of the two I would say fly as it allows you to easily get into combat where you want and when needed out of harms way. But if you know your opponent has a very strong hero I might say breathe fire but you would have to wait for him to use up some of his fate so he doesn't survive.

However, I would suggest you upgrade your dragon with Wyrmtongue. One successful sap will and all heroes but wizards, and those with resistant to magic, will be grave trouble.

 Fire breath uses might, Wyrmtongue uses will. But, you made a good point all the same, a dragon can fly around all day, whereas three uses of Breathe fire and you're done (unless Glorfy or Aragorn comes along to play....)

No, Fire Breath does use Will. If you have Wyrmtongue you can cast a Spell each turn without expending Will points.

I would take Fly rather than Fire Breath, I'd rather save my Will to pass those courage tests...

I haven't considered this point yet. I think because of that fly is better.

Voted fire.. but somehow i was a little fast... i didnt think of that it is related to the will store.

You can use either use might or will. Will may only be used to cast a spell or resist such a one or to improve a courage-test-roll by 1 per point of will. So you need the will to keep the dragon in the game. In my opinion fire would be better but it uses the will that you badly need and so fly is much better. With no will or might the dragon could be killed/fled after the first wounding.

How about you cheat? lol. Dont decide what your going to give your dragon then once you and your oppenent have set up and decided on a scenerio, thats when you pick what you want fly or breath fire (depending on his army and the scenerio). He won't even notice you only just chosen if he asks for an army list just say Oh i left it a home... or i lost it.

Ok you shouldnt really do this but if you really really want to or have to or just can't decide then there you go.

After Tough Hide, Fly is probably the most versatile and effective upgrade. But it's also one of the biggest risks. Yeah, you can get your Dragon where you want faster and easier, but often at the cost of leaving the rest of your army behind. That Dragon won't last long on his own in many situations (unless your enemy is scattered too). And if you get charged first you won't be able to escape as well.

Because of the size of the Dragon's base I do think that Fly is an important upgrade (too easy to manipulate the Dragon's movement otherwise) but if you are worried about the points and think that the terrain will leave a lot of room to maneuver then try with just Tough Hide. But if you can afford Fly and can resist putting your Dragon in places he shouldn't be alone then it's great.
