I got to see these in the flesh at Salute yesterday. They are very nice. Unfortunately I didn't have the cash to buy any (spent it on other stuff) but will definitely be buying some at a later date. I just wish I had taken a LotR mini with me to compare sizes etc.

they do look amazing. as a fan of vikings (i follow asatru and viking ancestry) id say these look great. very close to Rohirim. which in turn were based on vikings/celts themselves. and yes they do look strawberry blonde/gingerish one even looks blonde unless my eyes deceive me. but yes nothing frightning about it. to those of us in wales(and england and ireland and scotland) these are partly our ancestors. whats frightning about them? then again...an army of gingers coming over the hill bearing weapons...id be pretty jumpy too. but yeah these would look great converted with Rohan peices. and the price is fantastic. i mean games workshop are seriously extortionate. they have to make money "because were a business and thats what its all abut" but theres a fine line between making money and ripping off the customers which will one day turn around and give the company the finger. these would look great converted to mounts aswell.

Wow look at all those extra weapons. Worth picking up just for those. Clear detail on the figures too. I might just have to get me these.

And look at the conversion possibilities - some of those bits could easily be added to Warriors and Riders of Rohan to increase variety.
Now I am even more glad I spotted these!

These guys are an absolute steal compared with anything GW offers, and look great. I haven't picked up a box yet, but am seriously considering it.

I have a set of the Wargames Factory viking huscarls, as well. I think each set has it's strengths and weaknesses. The detail is a little more crisp on these guys, but I like some of the design elements on the WF vikings a tad better. The large mail sleeves on GB's throw me off a bit, mostly just on the "hero" mold.

Anyone done a scale comparison yet?

Couple of photos next to WOMT, (Just joined so unable to post links, there on warseer, LOTR general - Carn Dum in WotR. I'll post some stuff tonight so I can link URLs, in the mean time sorry).
Scale wise no real problems. Arms weapons all fit, models are a little more heavily built than most LOTR figure but that fits their background. Plenty of spare weapons, fixed a company of WOMT with new swords plus a few Rohan. These are the first test batch of 8 and are not quite finished (only 2 days old). Some of the heads are a little to big, however if you chose carefully which heads you use this can be solved. Much better quality than LOTR figures more like 40k. Also 88 figures (11 companies ) for £32 including delivery!
Bargin :-D

I picked these up at a show at the weekend. I also picked up a bag of about 50 smashed up rohan warriors for just £2.70

The bodies of the vikings are similar in size to the rohan ones, but their heads are heroic scale, so look a bit odd IMO. The viking heads would look fine on the plastic Army of the dead mini's though as they are all sculpted in heroic scale and larger than most other plastic warriors.

I've done a couple of head swaps to demonstrate the scale variation. Once I've fixed the joins I'll post pics. Basically The vikings will all have Rohan heads and shields. As they all have chainmail they will make good Grimbold Helmingas models. Another dilemma I have is that all Rohan minis have cloaks, and these vikings don't. So I could leave them all off or cloak them all up. Haven't decided yet.

As promised here are the head swap pics.

The first includes a regular Rohan warrior and Rohan captain to demonstrate what I mean by regular troop and heroic scale difference regarding the heads.

I still can't make up my mind whether or not to give them all cloaks or just leave them as they are.
