Who is better and why?
Iron Guard
Kazad Guard



I just got a set of 8-10 Iron Guard in the mail and was wandering.

Neither is really better imho, most people would probably say that khazad are better, but the iron guards two attacks can be good, especially as dwarves don't get spears. I plan on mixing a couple of each in my dwarf army.

I would agree with theavenger001 that they are both as good. Iron guard are great at making holes in the opponent's line but you can't field them in very large numbers. Kazad guard aren't as good as far at simply killing but their two handed axes can and bodyguard rule come in handy against monsters, and they are cheaper. I likewise plan on using a combination of the two.

I prefer Khazad Guard.
They are cheaper and IMO they are easier to implement effectively by pairing them up against D6 or S4 units.
I can imagine that Iron guard would be pretty good at flanking/splinting a sheild wall though.

This is actually in the wrong forum. It should be in SBG Gaming Tactics & House Rules instead. Hopefully, a mod will be along soon & move it.

But, I'd have to say I like Khazad guard better, myself. They don't have throwing weapons, but their Bodyguard rule will make them stay in the fray longer than most models will.
However, Iron Guard are definitely useful, too. I've never fielded them, but I suspect that they would be a good tank addition to a dwarven ranger force.
