Gentlemen, I have hit upon an idea: Elven Siege Bows! Take a regular elven archer and build up his bow so it resembles the Assymetric Bow used by Japanese samurai.
I'll try to get some pictures up as soon as I can. However, we now need to move the conversation over Here.

They do.

Gildor and his pals chase off Khamul the Easterling in the books. Glorfindel chases off four of them.

The Nazgul's power is fear. The Elves aren't afraid of them. The Nazgul have little power over Elves. The real reason Nazgul are dangerous to Elves is that the Nazgul can gather armies and using their innate terror causing ability, they could thrust an army against the Elves, until the Elves are overwhelmed.

But any of the Elder elves should be able to tell a Nazgul to naff off without much thinking.

It's just that in the game, Nazgul have to have some sort of use beyond "scare the bejesus out of random hobbits."

Khamul the Easterling isn't in the books. Or the films. GW made him up.

He was in the books, being the only ringwraith named apart from the Witch-King. He is only briefly mentioned though. :)

he is created and named by Tolkien, however his name is not mentioned in LotR itself, only in other writings (i'm not sure as to wether Khamul is the one Gildor chased away)

Khamûl was the one in the films who said "Shire, Baggins" to Farmer Maggot. Can't remember where I heard that though, but I'm almost certain he is.

Yup sorry General Elessar Khamul is not made up.

Back on Topic: I think elves lack of siege equipment is their only main weakness at the moment seeing as Galadhrim Knights have been released. So it needs to stay that every army has a weakness, if you are that bothered why not ally with a list that has some?

Lets be reasonable here. Given the number of things GW have released that have little to no foundation in Tolkien's works, the idea of an Elven Catapult being released (if it ever will be) isn't that offensive. The elves would certainly have possessed the skills required to build one, so it isn't completely unreasonable to think that they may have build at least one in the history of their people. Besides, I would like to see what one would look like (I really do like well sculpted models).

What may be a problem, however, is if they give the catapult some ridiculous profile or special rule. Lets hope they don't go down that path.

I'm sorry for going off topic, but I want to settle this about Khamul.

Adanedhel, and what writings would that be?

Erurainon the Trombonist, I doubt it. If the he is Khamul then why did GW add the metal mask and give him red robes?

Some of you may have heard of the Complete Guide to Middle Earth; for those who don't it's basically a Middle-earth dictionary. And Khamul is not in it.

One interesting note, the Complete Guide to Middle-earth suggests that Gothmog could have been a Nazgul...

Alright, I am going to end his debate right now, since it's annoying me. Yes, I am sure most people on her have heard of, and many probably own, a copy of the "Complete Guide to Middle-earth" as I do. My edition was printed in 1979.

I also own a copy of "Unfinished Tales", printed in 1980 which says on page 353, paragraph 3:

Quote:
But Sauron did not underesteem the powers and vigilance of the Wise, and the Nazgul were commanded to act as secretly as they could. Now at the time the Chieftain of the Ringwraiths dwelt in Minas Morgul with six companions, while the second to the Chief, Khamul the Shadow of the East, abode in Dol Guldur as Sauron's lieutenant, with one other as his messenger.

The chapter goes on describing Khamul by name many times during the Nazgul's hunt for the One Ring.

With that cleared up, may we please go back to the original topic discussing the Elven Catapults?

Cheers,
Wolfy
