Hello!

FIRST OFF, didn't really know where to put this question so I apologize in advance if this would offend anyone out there...

I am currently gathering information of how many people actually play in the San Francisco/Daly City area.

The reason for this is to start my own store-a gaming store just for LOTR fans (which will include gaming tables, books, miniatures, etc.) depending on what people want.

It will also have services such as: building terrains, gaming tables, miniatures, anything relating to the game.

Please send me your input and any recommendations (Preferably San Francisco or Bay Area Locals Please!!!)

Thank you!

This "Poll" DOES affect the game. By me creating a store here in SF, locals can get fast access to the game and more people might end up playing the game. Instead of people going all the way to Pleasanton or Oakridge or even Alamo, which is far for most people.

I just want to help...

I'm a big fan and sometimes I wish there were a local store here that can provide me the things I want and desperately need for the game.

I wouldnt do it unless there were a decent amount of LOTR gamers in the area around where you set the shop up...otherwise, your just blowing away money, and in this economy right now blowing money away isnt very smart, not a bad idea though, you just have to have people that will actually buy stuff from your store.

Hence, his original question!

But yes, this is the wrong forum. Technically, only admin should be able to post here... maybe you could post this in the Suppliers forum?
Good luck on it though. Even though I don't live in CA, I think that it would benefit local gamers a lot, and I'm sure that they'd support you 100% if the store would be able to get on its feet. :)

Edit: Maybe you'd get more hobbyists if you'd expand into Warhammer and 40k aswell?

You might want to start by creating a dues paying club. Rent a space where people can play and hold painting & terrain classes. You could build the community for a future store without the massive initial outlay a store would require. You could begin selling by getting a tax ID, which lets you buy wholesale and the sell to the club members. This could create an environment where people can play their LOTR or WOTR games with Heartbreaker or Mithril figures as well as GW.

I moved this to here since it is really all about a retail outlet (or a potential one at least).

Good luck with it Snyprecon, I hope you can make a go of it.

Personally I would love to see a gaming store related to nothing but LotR Snyprecon, however I don't think that making it so exclusive will keep it afloat. You'd have to be very flexible (especially in today's economy) and offer much more than LotR. Nice idea, but I don't think it would be very practical.

You need a strong business plan - realistic projections of income and costs. But the best of luck - San Francisco is my favorite US city.
