my favourite is the fellowship of the ring (extended), mainly for the fight scene with the balrog.

1. Fellowship of the Ring 2. Return of the King 3. The Two Towers
FOTR was the best film all round. ROTK was good but had a few things that were messed up. TTT had too many things changed from the book. (eg. Faramir's character, Elves at Helms Deep, Eomer and Erkenbrand to name a few).

I liked the RotK most, cool fight scenes and of course, the Siege de la Minas Tirith.

FoTR was the best as being Closest to the Book (sorta  ). I liked the EE.
ROTK was the absolute WORST , in my opinion anyway. It wasn't at all true to the books, and when Legolas Climbed up the Mumakil, i was just... . It had way to much pointless fighting....But the extended Dead place was TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!
I used to hate TT, but now its around tied for my favorite. It didn't have too much fighting ( which is good) and it was just good. I didn't really like Farimir's Charecter ( way to mean) and Gollum (way to cute :P ).

I Like them all really. I tend to see them as films based on the books, and not following the exact storyline.

Fellowship of the Ring is the best in my opinion. It has more adventure, great scenery and the Hobbits still have some essence of innocence.

I love the trekking and being able to see all those fantastic places Tolkien wrote about in the books, on film.

The Return of the King was my favourite. It was the most action pact and was much more exciting than the other two films. Plus the battle of Minas Tirith was pretty awesome

The Fellowship of the Ring is my personal favourite. Even though it does not have as much fighting as the other two books / films it still has plenty story and a good ammount of action :)

For me, The Two Towers. I’m a big fan of the Horse-Masters of Rohan and there’s a good deal of them in the second movie! :D

It's a very tough call, but I think I'd have to go with TT. It's sort of a mix between the other two, more variation 8)

Good to see an old thread come back to life and not forgotten.

After watching the films time and time again, I find myself not bothering with the Fellowship, but opting for TTT or TROTK...I guess TTT is my favourite now, as TROTK leaves me in tears at the end...ITS SOOO SAD

you're kidding? right?

I think I like tfotr the most, because there is this evil, dark and desperate atmosphere throughout the movie. you don't have that anymore in the other two films.

I think after careful review i agree with you. From when Aragorn and Boromir meet for the first time till the end of the movie I think is the best of the lot. The Mines of Moria and the battle of Amon Hen can't be beaten.

Also its got Arwens' "If you want him come and claim him." Which in my opinion is one of the best delivered lines in the trilogy.

I love the Fellowship of the ring because it captivates the rest of the middle earth dwarfs and elves. The other movies just focus on men and men are not magical they are greedy people that have no sense of wonder to them. The fellowship shows a glimpse of the world out side of men and for that I think it the best. And the hobbit will be similar because they don’t really encounter the world of me but dale.

I'm sure they will be hugely thankful about that.

I'm not sure what Dale will make of it though...

TTT is my favorite. FOTR was an amazing movie, but its just personal Uruk-hai preferance. Even though Lurtz is one of my favorite characters, TTT had the battle of the Hornburg. ROTK had too many gay Frodo-Sam moments.

Whoever Dale is, he will be greatly annoyed. Evil Fishy's vanity has angered him. :P
