This is amazing, the amount of detail in that small section of the neck, omg! Im loving it so far mate. I think the shape of the dragon is very elegant also. Quit your job and take this up lol

Keep up the brilliant work

This needs a lot of work, obviously. Teeth and sculpting. I'm not sure about it yet and may resculpt the whole head. The underside of the neck needs thickening to prevent the head seeming overly large.

I'm also wondering whether or not to have ears. Not sure. It still needs something. Ideas?

The lower jaw needs to come to more of a point to mirror the upper jaw.

It's amazing, and as for the ears, I didn't notice until you'd mentioned it, I actually think the head itself looks great. Do you think you could show some comparison shots to see how big it is now compared to a normal minature?

fantastic - just a slight tweak on the neck as you don't want him to look ponderous. Smaug was a agile and spiteful dragon, driven by malice and greed. He should be able to swoop and soar over Erebor and Esgaroth without having to go on the Slimfast diet first.

I agree, some slight corrections done to the lower jaw and ears would be great. Great job! :D

Here is a drawing done of Smaug that might give you a little help for the ears.

Amazing! Really amazing!!
I don't think ears are really nessesary (or however you write this word...).
In fact the only dragon figure I've seen ears on is the GW LOTR dragon. I've just checked my two McFarlanes dragons and they don't have ears aswell.
If you would do them anyway, I'd go for really small almost invisible ears...
Besides, ears aren't aerodynamic ;)

Its looking better and better! A real unmissable wip. Having looked at the latest picture for a while and some other dragon paintings/sculpts, their are a few things i think could help make it look even nicer.

Image

From those pictures i think some horns, or similar coming out from the back of the head will give it a much more "dragon" feel, and make it flow more smoothly. Also the muscles under the eyes could be more prominant. The last one also shows an option for ears?

I have to say, its looking brilliant, and again i cannot wait until the next update!

Fantastic work. The detail is simply amazing; just as amazing is the speed with which you are completing this project!

Keep it up.

This is really incredible work! I think the pose is perfect, just the right amount of disdain and menace. I'd say skip the ears, though maybe some small horns...but I'd buy it the way it is :-)

Wow. You have a natural talent there. Everytime I try to sculpt with greenstuff it comes out a nasty mess.

I love this model. I think the head looks great. I'd agree with the suggestion on adding some small horns I think.

This is breathtaking work

I wouldn't have thought about adding ears to a dragon, but maybe small ones as TheBucklandBrewer said above. The sculpt iof the head looks much better than i thought it would - you are really excelling yourself :)

I cant wait to see it finished and ready to do some damage on the battlefield :D

Wow!You have really incredible sculpting skills!
I can't imagine how long it would have taken you to sculpt the scales.
How long have you been sculpting?Any tips or secrets you would be willing to share?

Golly golly gosh! That is superb Nathan. I really admire your skill.
As for something missing, I can see where your coming from even though it is amazing as it is. I agree with maybe some horns or similar. Small spiky ears maybe?
great work :)
