I drilled a couple of holes into the side of the head to fix this jaw bone wire.

Wow, really nice sculpt there!!! Could you draw what you want of a head? I think that you need to be careful on how you would do the head. Especially about the mouth and eyes how will express the personality of the dragon. :)

Very, very cool!

I ditto Hawkmoon's question, will you be casting this?

Cheers

I don't know yet if I'll be having it cast or not due to the cost of having a mould made. I made the mould for the fort, and that was easy enough, but I can't cast this - that's a pro's job. I will find out the cost, if I think it's good enough, to have a mould made and how much subsequent casts will be, but I'm sure it won't be cheap.

Welcome back, 'Hawkmoon'. It's good to hear from you again!

It really looks great!

Maybe you can do some busness with Ebob. I am sure he can make you a mould :D

Mouth wide open, ready to flame... no wonder Bilbo took off up that passageway after remarking that burglars are hard to catch.

Great work. I have no doubt that the final result will be the envy of us all.

Moulds and Castings will cost you a small fortune though, and I was talked out of doing this myself by Ebob.
Unfortunately, all be it with good intentions, plenty of people will encourage you to get it cast stating that they'll be buying one, but when it comes down to it, suddenly no one has a large enough wad of money spare and you are left to foot the bill.

Of course if you can afford to do it, then do it, but if like most of us you live on the breadline, then do your homework first before you commit. Maybe get a deposit from people in advance perhaps?

Thanks, ukfb.
Okay, everyone, £1000 to reserve a dragon.

I won't go there yet, though, while the wee beastie is still in progress. He may not be what other people want - so I'll be the happy owner of my very own unique dragon. That's why I'm making him... and it's fun.

Well, when he's done I'll get some quotes for mould-making and how much each cast will be - then suss out any interest and figure if it'll be worth it or not. If I just covered my costs, that would be fine. I like the idea of other people owning, painting and enjoying models that I have made! That'd be cool! :D

I am fairly new to this mini making business, but I have been in communication with Griffin moulds to get a couple of moulds made of three mini sculpts I have. The initial cost is fairly pricey but then the cost of having them cast didn't seem too bad. I hope you do go through with it as it would certainly be a nice addition to the range of minis for Middle Earth fans.

I finally managed to catch up with this project after a longer break. I have to admit that seeing this project "come to life" is a pure pleasure, really impressive work.

Keep on rockin'
